Personally, I think that
Spoiler:
Sam is dead - TCG (the little girl) was death/the Apocolypse, when Sam changed the channel on the radio, he accepted death. 1973 was Sam's idea of heaven where he could be with his friends

I agree, and it is pretty much confirmed in the interview posted on the previous page. As for Mya, is there any reference to her in the final episode?

Spoiler:
I never thought that I would ever see a movie or tv show that would have the suicide of the main character be a feel good moment.

I loved this series, and am really going to miss it.

Showcase aired the finale last night, so I taped it to rewatch. I forgot how horrible it is to watch BBC shows when they've been hacked to pieces because of commercials.

One of my favorite scenes in the finale was when Sam and Annie were in his apartment, with "I Hope That I Don't Fall In Love With You" by Tom Waits playing in the background. Sam wanted Annie to stay for the night, since he knew that he would be going back soon, and he only might have one night left. Annie said that she couldn't stay for only one night. It was an emotional five minute scene with the perfect song choice after a two season buildup between the two characters. When Showcase aired it, it was a 30 second scene with replaced generic sappy music that started with Sam asking Annie to stay the night. It was the equivalent as a booty call request, without any hint of the emotional feelings that had been building for two seasons.

I can honestly say that if I had been watching this exclusively on Showcase, it would not be one of my favorite shows of all time, as it has become with the R2 DVD releases.

Sorry to bump this thread again, but I just had to vent.

Ouch! I'm glad I didn't watch it on Showcase. That's absolutely brutal.

I didn't read your post once I saw "aired finale", but to be on the safe side can you spoiler the post?

Thanks!

Any update on S2 on BBCA? I thought I saw a snippet a few weeks ago during a commercial saying upcoming shows. I know Kitchen Knightmares starts back up in about a week and a half, so perhaps soon after that?

finally watched these, had saved them up for summer season. I think that Gene, Ray and Chris really came into there own this season. And to be honest I enjoyed them a lot more than I enjoyed Sam. He's a nonce

But I'll be excited now for ashes to ashes.

Bump!!

Saw a commercial this morning on BBCA saying Series 2 will be on Tuesdays...back-to-back!! It didn't say when, but I assume next week (?). If so, and if we have 12, that would put us through the middle of January until we finish up.

I've really been looking forward to this. Can't wait to see how Sam's journey wraps up!

There's only 8 episodes in Series Two so you'll have less time to wait to find out what happens!

BUMP as the first two episodes of the 2nd & final season aired last night.

I'll spoilerize as I'm sure some people missed them and will watch on In Demand.
Spoiler:
So Sam actually got a phone call from someone who knows his predicament and promised him that he can "come home" when he's finished what he's supposed to do. Obviously, he has no idea what that is.

Funniest line from the 1st episode:
Detective (discussing a corpse): "They didn't take the rings off his fingers."
The Guv: "Or the bells off his toes!"

That had me laughing for several minutes. So glad to have it back.

I'm afraid to read the rest of the thread for fear of spoilers.

I only caught the first of the two aired, but my thoughts are:

Spoiler:

Very interesting. It definitely took on a different tone as Sam turned a blind eye and became what his new force once was when he arrived. He's becoming more desperate and it's beginning to show to everybody.

I assume that what Sam had said at the beginning was true - murders, jail, case, etc. However, he "successfully" changed history, and yet he remained cognizant of both timelines? Instead of a busted case coming after him, it was an escaped mental patient. However, I feel like Sam did it to himself since he told the guy that in the future he was hit by a car an in the hospital.

Anyway, enjoyable episode and I'm looking forward to more.

Looks like these are headed to one new episode per week after last week's back-to-back lineup.

Reminder - the series finale is on BBCA tonight!

I won't read any of the recent posts in this thread until tomorrow for fear of spoilers.

What the heck is going on here? I thought there were 8 episodes in series 2? I've only seen 4 I think. Two on the first night and then 1 or 2 others, maybe 3. In fact, one I watched had a description that was in fact the preview for the following episode. So I think I definitely have missed one if not two. Additionally, I looked at the schedule, and couldn't determine what was going on. Either they screwed up, my recorder screwed up, or they both screwed up.

If I miss the one with the foreign guy that was murdered is that a big issue? At least that's what the preview showed - some guy dead in an appartment.

Ashes to Ashes I believe is the title. Gene Hunt in the 80s with a psychologist.

7 have aired. There were 2 episodes on 12/11 and 1 episode each Tuesday 9 pm since, even Christmas night.

Your recorder must have screwed up. Are you sure you are recording the weekly 9 pm (new ep) airing because the weekly 8 pm airing is a encore of the previous week's 9 pm airing.

Yeah, but I think something screwed up. I had a Tivo season pass set - and I had even checked it. I think there may be some additional showings tonight and/or tomorrow night. If they have the murder episode on at 8, I may just sit down for 2 hours and watch tonight.

Can't wait for tonight. This has been one of the most entertaining shows in a longtime...sad to see it end but at the same time, dragging it out would probably hurt the show.

And that's what they said, but really when the entire thing is done, it will be 2/3 of one season in the US! I'm all for ending it when the time is up, but I really think this could have gone another 12-16 episodes.

Wow. I'll post my thoughts on the series finale once I've had more time to digest them, but I will post a quick word on episode 7 now.

Episode 7, without a doubt, was one of the best episodes of television of I have ever seen. I felt like all of the characters had fallen into place, I felt as if the plot was solid - perhaps the first "established" all around episode? Most importantly though, were the performances by Philip Glenester and John Simm were 100%. All of this together, was so compelling. I was glued to the set for an hour, as the time flew by, and I watched as they tried to get the bottom of the mystery. Not to mention the internal strife that Sam deals with while still managing to move forward and do his job. Oh, and the icing on the proverbial cake? What episode of Life on Mars would be complete with out some classic quips from DCI Hunt?!

Fantastic ending. Of course, this makes me even more wary of the American version. They'd better have really great chemistry and a fantastic lead actor if they intend to wrap their series up the way this one did.
