One scene with Anna Lucia and no dialogue in it.
It was a good day. I didn't need my AK.
to a good episode... "Tell them Mr. Eko let you live." That part gave me chills. Did you see how fast he slit those guys' throats.

In slo-mo, it looks like there a total of 13 images:
1) The top of his brother's church (cross on the building is seen)
2) some man's face
3) some woman's/kid's face with white hair (or a bonnet?)
4) another man's face
5) some bald guy looking down with a white shirt and tie
6) a plane propeller??
7) a distant mountain
8) some upside down picture of a man wearing a suit coat
9) his brother
10) some woman (a clear image)
11) a picture of Eko holding his brother after he was shot (lower left of cloud)
12) a 2nd photo of Eko holding his brother after he was shot (upper left)
13) a picture of the crucifix
Since all of these photos seem to deal with Eko's past, the cloud was most likely scanning him.

I still think the whole purgarory theme, or something similar, is kinda the most likely option. Everyone left on the island has committed a sin, and none of them are allowed to "die" until they change their ways.

I thought the episode was pretty good, my wife on the other hand has given up on the show. Her argument about season 2 is that each episode it seems that nothing happens. I can see her point to some extent, they are moving slower this season than the last, but here's to hoping that they kick it in gear down the stretch. They have plenty of material to play with and the next episode looks interesting, so things look good.

It's not purgatory. Lindelof has said that it's not purgatory, it's not a dream, and that it is taking place, somewhere, sometime, on earth. those are the only three things we know for certain.Originally Posted by Mittman

Yeah, I hate that they shot down the purgatory idea, as that really seems the only way they could tie it together and also explain why all the survivors are "sinners" with some kind of complicated past (for a reason other than creating drama anyway).
At anyrate, that was a fantastic episode. Eko's flashback was probably my favorite so far, and definitely my favorite this year. None of the second or third flashbacks have done much for me as they lack the shocking reveals of the first for each character. So it was nice to get an interesting flashback for the a character they hadn't done yet.

I enjoyed it. I thought it was the most interesting of the flashback's this season outside of Jack's where we meet Desmond.
Next week looks great

My local affiliate ran a weather advisory over the opening scene, obliterating the subtitles. Can anybody relate what was said? Why did those people want Eko's brother to shoot that old man?

They shot down purgatory, but they also told folks that they basically have no idea what they're doing as well. It seems unlikely both of those could be true. DL may just be at peace with telling lies. Only time will tell.

They never gave a reason. The subtitles weren't imporant really. Just stuff like "get down" "don't take the kids" "shoot him" etc.Originally Posted by Groucho

I don't know why there are so many seemingly "bad" people together on one flight, but I think that's the reason the cloud hasn't taken them- it only wants the good people (like Walt) for the "Utopian Society" on another part of the island.

Really enjoyed this episode. Eko's story was basically what I figured, was suprised by the fate of Eko's brother.
Really glad Claire kicked Charlie loose. Seems like he could easily go off the straight and narrow.
Was Hurley just being helpful or could that be the start of a "friendship"? I gues only time will tell.
So glad this show has returned.

I wasn't too sure why either, but i'm just assuming they wanted to recruit some kid who had the guts to shoot someone. Or maybe they were just having their fun by making the kid shoot him, and when Ecko did it they decided to take him along.Originally Posted by Groucho

Yet by any reasonable moral standard the 'others'/pirates who took Walt/group that stole kids are anything but good people.
I am begining to feel very strongly that the Dharma group behind the hatches and videos are not the same as the 'others.' It is as if the hatches and island and monster are their protection against them. Just a thought.
At any rate, a great episode.

I don't get all the hate for him, he's one of my favorite characters.
