Just saw this one. I enjoyed it quite a bit. Carpenter is back.

Wasn't the main actor the guy from Blade 2 who worked with Blade?

OUCH!

TV Shows on DVD is reporting that the Showtime series Masters of Horror will be making it's way to DVD through Anchor Bay. The bad news is that it's really gonna burn a hole in your wallet. Each 1 hour episode will cost you around $16.98, while 2 packs will go for $29.98. Wow, talk about a rip off. Twenty bucks for just an hour of material. Not all of the episodes have been announced on DVD and they aren't even being released in order. Episodes will be released on March 28th, May 9th, June 27th and July 18th. I was looking forward to having this on DVD, but for the price they're asking...no thanks.

.........

beyond that, Cigarette Burns was decent, but saying carpenter is back!??? i don't think so.

Uhh... They're out of their minds. Aside from some crazy anime sets and Discovery/NGC releases that count on schools purchasing them, that has to set a record for the most expensive US television DVD set, per hour of content, ever. Aside from people that are fanatical over certain director's participating in the show, they won't sell a single DVD. As much as I liked this episode, I sincerely doubt I'm going to be putting out $17 for an hour long television show.

I must be the only person who likes this... I only want the Carpenter episode anyways to go w/ all my other Carpenter dvd's. Cant wait to own it. Hope they do a Director's Commentary and interviews, etc. CB's is the only episode I have enjoyed so far.

someone mentioned that 'Jenifer' was cut of the episode's more extreme moments. If this is true, I hope either Anchor Bay or Showcase for that matter will relent and restore the excised scenes for the DVD edition.

Month late. I watched this at a buddy's place and I am amazed. It was, of course, after watching the preceeding other episode which probably lent to my amazement. But this is quite possible the best hour of "TV" I have seen in a few years. And it is easilly the scariest movie/short film/show/etc that I have ever seen. I'm still hopinh that a boxset of the show is released instead of the single and double episodes. I haven't finished the series yet, but hopefully this episode is a glimpse of what is to come, and that it just doesnt turn back into the likes of that zombie voting crap.

It's not. The general consensus, and I'd tend to agree, is that Carpenter's "Cigarette Burns" is by FAR the best this series had to offer. For this reason alone, I'm excited that these are being released individually. I've seen them all, aside from Miike's pulled episode of course, and this is the only one I personally have any interest in purchasing.

if anything these episodes are a step above or about the same as Tales from the crypt. I can't imagine anyone thinking they are scary. Cigarette Burns was interesting, but not nearly enough as The Ninth Gate (also, not scary, but moody and cool.) I watched the Deer Woman not two weeks ago and that was decent. But, again, more humor and watchablity, then horror (ie, scary.) However, i heard from a horror site that the Miike episode was dropped. I forget the exact wording of the reason, maybe it was "too intense," which would seem to be exactly what this series needs. I like it though, i'd rather have good/decent/poor horror than no horror at all. But maybe Miike took the show exactly where it needs to be???
