Prison Break...Best Drama!!!?
I love the show, but the far-fetched story-telling alone is enough to keep it out of the category. Good to see Rome (it better win, considering the competition) and My Name is Earl, though.

Well, since I just blasted it...I might as well defend it.
What does the longevity of the show have anything to do with wheather or not it should be awarded for it's quality? Films are only two hours. Should a film that does not produce 3 sequals not win awards?
Without watching 5 minutes of the show, how can you even begin to ask this question in a serious manner? While the question hans't been answered suffeciently, they implied that he studied the system thourouly and still took a huge risk. The possibility of spending 5 years in another prison was worth it to him for the chance of saving his brother.
Again, you aint watched the show, buddy. The prison was "designed" by a firm that couldn't complete the job on time...so they contracted a "ghost" designer to get it done. This happens all the time in every field. Probably with prisons it's illegal, but...what are ya gonna do?
He "planned" it for much longer than that obviously. Do you plan a bank robbery only the second you step in the bank? And you know why the people at the grocery store bag your groceries? Because they are PAID! They help him, because they get something out of it. This is the lest far-fetched aspect of the show!
No. It is too much suspension of disbelief. It's just that the points you brought up aren't the ones that need it.
Whew. Now I feel better and can enjoy my guilty pleasure.

This is what I don't understand and why I don't watch :
1.) They say the guy is gonna be executed in TWO WEEKS ( or some other short time period ). How do they really expect this to be a series that lasts. I have already heard about a second season.

He also fired the gun during the robbery, which assured he would be sent to a maximum security prison and I believe that was the main one in the immediate area.
The guy is really smart, and that has been the fun part of the show, watching his plan unfold and realizing how he prepared for so many small details, and then watching him have to adjust his plan as unexpeced things start happening.
The main ridiculous aspect of the show is a guy on death row doing work detail. I guess they figured he needs the 19 cents an hour.

Prison Break gets nominated for Best Drama.....but no House??? Give me a break. House is one of the best Dramas on TV right now....and the show has consistently had some great writing. Atleast Hugh Laurie got the nod in the Best Acting category.

Also what's up with the T-Rex I saw in a commercial for Lost? Dinosaurs are extinct, guys.

No, because Six Feet Under is nowhere to be found in the nominations.
Prison Break and Commander In Chief over Six Feet Under, Deadwood, The West Wing even? I don't think so.
The GG seem to be a show for what's hot right now...not what is actually good.

It does seem like people aren't taking it all that serious and are a little forgiving of the plot holes/flaws/expert planning by the jailbreaker.

You're right and it is why I called it the bizzaro version of the Emmys which typically nominates shows that were great/hot 3-4 years ago.

These are by far the worst nominations ever. It seems like they only nominated new shows, even though they aren't that good. Like Prison Break. I watch it all the time, but it isn't a quality show, it's more of a pure entertainment show. Also they didn't nominate any FX shows (with the exception of Glenn Close). And Arrested Development getting no nominations is a crime. This IMO has been the best season so far. My guess is that nobody picked it because they figured everyone else would.

5. Best actress -- Musical or Comedy:
-- Marcia Cross, "Desperate Housewives"
-- Teri Hatcher, "Desperate Housewives"
-- Felicity Huffman, "Desperate Housewives"
-- Eva Longoria, "Desperate Housewives"
-- Mary-Louise Parker, "Weeds"
-- Marcia Cross, "Desperate Housewives"
-- Teri Hatcher, "Desperate Housewives"
-- Felicity Huffman, "Desperate Housewives"
-- Eva Longoria, "Desperate Housewives"
-- Mary-Louise Parker, "Weeds"
My theory why Arrested Developmet was not nominated is because it is being cancelled. They only want to honor shows that the nominations can help, which is why so many new shows were nominated. That's why Six Feet Under was also ignored.

Of course, they could fix this by not giving out their awards in the middle of a season, but then they'd have to do two different award shows. Reason #24601 why the Golden Globes are silly.

for the nomination of Commander in Chief as best drama. I share the sentiments in regards to Prison Break even though I like the show.

Jeremy Piven and Entourage nominations.
