I got a great laugh out of the episode. Best one in a while, in my opinion.

There's a difference between being banned and a station caving in to a fruitcake celeb because they're afraid of being sued.

That's true. the BBFC doesn't ban that much anymore, but "banned in Britain" is still a catchy phrase so I used it.

Tom Cruise is an idiot. All he did was call attention to the episode. How stupid do you have to be to try to sue people for stuff like this? Haven't people been questioning his sexuality for DECADES? You'd think he'd be over it, used to it or have admitted he a 'mo by now. Oops. Am I gonna get sued now? ;)

Chef' wants out of 'South Park' contract

NEW YORK, March 13 (UPI) -- Religious parody on "South Park" has led Isaac "Chef" Hayes to quit the Comedy Central cartoon.

Hayes, who has been with "South Park" since 1997, issued a statement Monday saying he has requested a release from the show because of recent episodes displaying "inappropriate ridicule of religious communities."

"There is a place in this world for satire, but there is a time when satire ends and intolerance and bigotry toward religious beliefs of others begins," Hayes said.

"Religious beliefs are sacred to people and at all times should be respected and honored. As a civil rights activist of the past 40 years, I cannot support a show that disrespects those beliefs and practices."

Hayes did not specify any episodes in particular, but a recent show called "Bloody Mary," which included the defiling a statue of the Virgin Mary drew fire from Roman Catholic groups.

Pretty lucky for Isaac Hayes that there was a (supposedly) anti-Catholic show on this season as well--so he wouldn't have to admit that he's quitting over the Scientology show...

Yeah, let's see... countless jokes and episodes about Christianity and Judaism. Mormons got it, too. Muslims, Hindus, Shinto... check. But as soon as this episode appears he flinches.

It's the equivalent of a white guy, a black guy, a hispanic guy, an asian guy, and a middle eastern guy sitting around making racial jokes and laughing, but as soon as someone says a joke about your race you get all pissed off, even if you were just laughing at the other racial jokes.

I heard them make this point a while back on Conan, talking about the creation of Timmay!! and their perspective on humor relative to all the PC-bullshit being thrown around today, and I think it's a very good point....It's either all or nothin'.

I doubt it. That would be too easy. I think Hayes has earned nearly a whole season worth of jokes about him and Scientology in general. You don't leave South Park without getting jumped out.

It's possible that Hayes may have been "asked" by the higher ups in Scientology to quit. I'm not saying that makes it any better of course.

Its funny when I first saw the episode and they went into the explanation about the aliens and scientology beliefs, and in big flashing letters it said "THIS IS WHAT SCIENTOLOGISTS ACTUALLY BELIEVE", at that moment i thought "Isaac is going to be pissed".
