They did forget that Xenu not only dropped these poor frozen aliens off into volcanoes, but that he dropped nuclear bombs on them as well. Still, they did a great job on the DC-8s, and the end credits.

Funniest episode of SP I've seen in a few years, IMO. rotfl
|
man, i caught this because of the new TiVo overlap feature! sweet!
i liked the episode. Not stellar, but it was funny to see the actual beliefs of scientologists. |
Hey, isnt' Isaac Hayes (aka Chef) into Scientology?
|
I thought this episode was pretty good but it wasnt that funny. I thought it was realy funny though when Tom Cruise asked stan what his fav movie of his was. Also the R. Kelly jokes were good.
|
is there a background for the r. kelly jokes?
i don't listen to hip-hop. |
Feh. Making fun of Scientology and Tom Cruise is way too easy.

Third episode in a row to not bring "the funny."
South Park's slipping. |
Loved the "This is what Scientologists actually believe" graphic. They should have done the same thing during the Mormon episode.

Actually, I thought it was phenomenal that they made fun of Scientology. Just publicly mentioning that Xenu story has been enough to get people sued, stalked, threatened (and I mean physically, like death threats), etc.. The media usually glosses over it (never seen Saturday Night Live tackle it ((though I haven't watched lately))). Those Smiths in the credits weren't just for laughs.
They hammered the "in the closet" thing a little too much I think, but I'm really thrilled that they took on that despicable cult head-on. |

I thought it was pretty good. The "go ahead and sue me" statement followed by the John and Jane Smith credits was priceless.
|
Have people associated with Scientology sued successfully? I can't imagine how it would be possible to get hammered by telling the truth about their beliefs. Sure, piss 'em off, but sued?

They don't even care if they win. They just sue and sue until the victim is bankrupted by lawyer fees.

Man, I was rotfl throughout this episode. Not groundbreaking, but I was laughing. Nice touch on bringing R Kelly in. "I'm gonna cap this bitch!"
I liked Travolta's impression as well. |

VH1 showed the entire video in a special over the summer. Very interesting story/video.
Saw the South Parks story on CNN and watched the video they had there of the segment. Had to laugh, especially with R. Kelly (who I figured it was but they never made reference... 'cept for the closet reference) holding a gun to the door and going in the closet. |
that shit is the funniest thing I think Ive seen this year. Im laughing to it hurts
|
In my opinion...
One of the least funny episodes in a while. The whole "in the closet" thing was horrible. |
I thought this episode was good... I had a few laugh-out-loud moments and a number of chuckles...
Highlights for me... Travolta: "Is this where he is, is this wher L. Ron Hubbard lives? OhmyGAUD!!!" Belief Disclaimer "You not as good as the guy in Napoleon Dynamite." R. Kelly's gun moments & End Credits I'd say that's a solid ammout of laughs for 22 minutes of TV... |
Looks like this episode has been banned in Britain...
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2006/01...uth_park_axed/ It will be interesting to see if it airs uncut here again. |
