cusm, michael told them all to wait there until he came back. it was order to be "followed blindly". btw, i love dwigt's space blanket.

This actually happens a lot in offices. People do well and keep getting promoted until they get themselves a job that is way over their head and that's where they stay. There's a name for it. Something like the Petey Syndrome or something like that.

This episode didn't bring the funny as much as most episodes do but it did a good job of forwarding the Jim-Pam relationship and, at least for me, was the final push to seperate this show from the UK version.

This episode was great - I loved the screenplay read around the table (and the intern actually took part!) and the fact that Michael showed that he was good at something.

I didn't think it was an official space blanket.... I just thought it was a makeshift thing made from aluminum foil found in the office kitchen.

Loved the "two thumbs down" line and that grin.

Deftones 11-09-05 10:12 AM

Yet another great episode.

It's the Peter Principle.

You're damned right about it happening in a lot of offices. Clueless managers who once did a job they were good at were the order of the day at my most recent employer -- it is part of what drove me to go back to school.

DRG 11-09-05 10:46 AM

Most probably didn't notice this due to Tivos and whatnot, but there was a Chili's commerical during the break. For some reason I thought this was hilarious. :)

"I give Micheal's screenplay.... two thumbs down" *smirk*

I really like Kevin and his stupid grins better than his counterpart on the English show. He may be a one note character, but damn if he isn't funny.

What were the names? Michael Scar, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Samuel L. Chang (?) and what did he change Dwight to?

ryuryu2949 11-09-05 02:36 PM

I think "Dwigt" was the Chang character, but I am not totally sure.

RichardW 11-09-05 02:39 PM

Correct.

It is so so sad and reminds me so much of Neil from the original, who, on the surface was great, yet actually was a bully.

Yes, I am overreacting...but I just cannot belive the basement morality they justify. Who is the A-hole whom is writing Jim and Pam?

We would have done that in a second in my office if we found such a script. In fact, we did so with a totally lame-ass column one of our former coworkers wrote. If that makes us "A-holes" so be it. I guess that's why the whole script thing rang true and so funny for me.

Michael Corvin 11-09-05 03:27 PM

I'm pretty sure it was originally Dwigt changed to Samual L. Chang.

Tommy Ceez 11-09-05 03:51 PM

It was Dwight changed to Samual L. Chang, but MS Word FIND AND REPLACE doesnt hit typo's

Trelach24 11-09-05 04:04 PM

I think the best line was when Jan said "Just Levinson" and Michael goes "No Gould? What happened? Did Gould die?"

Goldberg74 11-09-05 06:08 PM

Michael under the desk talking with Jan on the phone was priceless.

"No I did not get you drunk on purpose."

"No I did not drug you."

"You want to see other people... exclusively?" rotfl

Brent L 11-09-05 07:39 PM

"I don't understand. You want to see other people? Only other people?"

Deftones 11-09-05 09:49 PM

Man what a gyp. I was at Chili's tonight and a huge group of us ordered 2 awesome blossoms. I'm like "I'll have an awesome blossom, extra awesome" and nobody got it. :(

And after the opening with the Levi's jeans and how much fun Michael has in them... there was a Levi's commercial

Yeah, finally some justification for Michael keeping his job. This episode is another good example of how much his character has improved over last season. But didn't he say they just made out and talked until she fell asleep? I think he would've admitted to actually closing the deal. That made it all the better :D
