This episode was really bad. It made no sense at all and I loved it. It was so bad that it went into the "fun" category for me. I liked the Chloe voice over stuff and her story about getting to the Planet. There were some fun lines and the Spike/Lex stuff was really good (it's great to see Lex have an equal, if not a better on the show).

The ep did highlight some problems I have with the show in general though. First does Lex live in a 24 hour Wal-Mart or a private mansion? The frequency in which people just barge into his place is insane. I think it's one of those pills you have to swallow to enjoy the show, but it still grates on my nerves a bit.

Like someone said earlier, why do they have to tie EVERYTHING to kyrptonite? If Clark is going to grow into Superman, every bad guy he faces isn't going to come from kryptonite and I think it would be cool if he was to see he wasn't the only naturally gifted person in the world. This happened with the Flash ep and it was one thing I thought was blown in the Aquaman ep.

And specific to this season, they really did a bad job introducing college into this show. I'm glad we didn't get a bunch of Felicity-esque angst, but still. They could have given this aspect of the season a bit of light outside of "college now".

Still really enjoying this season and this weeks upcoming ep will probably never leave my DVR.

From tv guide. Some upcoming tidbits about this season....

Spoiler:

What's Brainiac up to?
We've only just met Professor Fine (played by Buffy the Vampire Slayer's James Marsters), but we'll soon learn that he's really the Kryptonian villain Brainiac and that he's up to no good. Gough says Brainiac will make his intentions known in the Nov. 10 and Nov. 17 episodes. "He tries to trick Clark into doing what he wants. I don't want to say too much, but there is a smack-down at the Fortress."

And what about those Disciples of Zod from the season premiere? Will they be back?
We can expect an encore performance from those Kryptonian thugs who Clark sent into an extradimensional prison (one that seemed a lot like the Phantom Zone of Superman II). "I don't want to spoil it, so I'll just say that you haven't seen the last of them and Brainiac is a key to that."

The rumors of this being the last season are pretty much gone but they're throwing so much action in, I dont see how they could extend it another 2 years without taking 'Smallville' out of the show.
And as for the upcoming season, I think the highest ratings will come from the previews for this week's show, as well as the most anticipated appearance that fans have been begging for, (next to Bruce Wayne) and that's

When I asked Jeph Loeb at comic-con how many more seasons were there going to be, he said 2 (including this season).
