The worse part was that the person who posted the list couldn't even think of 10 living female comics. That kind of made the point, I think.

Well you nailed it, as that is right around the time that I last really enjoyed the show.

Ummm, should any SNL recurrent skits be saved? It used to be that they were based on characters that had charisma and personality. Everyone loved the Coneheads and wanted to see how they reacted in different circumstances. Some, like Belushi's Samurai was maybe the same joke over and over, but at least it was a funny one, others like Lisa Loober weren't really about jokes but at least were endearing characters.
These days, if any scatter-shot skit works even a little bit, it's hammered to (or rather, well past) death. I'm hard pressed to think of ANY recurring skit that's even a little funny these days (unless you count Fred as an animal, but that's kinda cheating since it's not a recurring character). Since the last slash-and-burn there haven't been many recurring skits worth a damn (being VERY generous : Celebrity Jeopardy, The Spartans, Mary Katherine Gallager, The Roxy Guys, the teens from Boston and the intellectual "Lovers") and every one of them is done now. Nothing is working these days. None of the recurring characters do anything except rehash their maybe one funny characteristic as if we should be so grateful that Lorne is bringing back someone we know. This show HAS to have a cast reset if it has a chance of survival.

People need their weekly trainwreck fix.

NBC needs to either overhaul the show or pull the plug. It's a sad sad shell of a show.
