And I haven't seen a commercial for almost 3 years unless I happen to be at a friends house and they have the TV on in the background.
More and more people are switching to this method of viewing TV, which shows just how critically flawed TV ratings are. TV on our time, what we want, when we want it, commercial free, in the format and quality we want it in.

Better question:
WHY THE FUCK DO YOU HAVE TO GET SO ANGRY ABOUT SOMETHING SO POINTLESS?

And btw, I'm not angry in the least. I just don't get it, and I'm sick of seeing it

Sure, I had a problem when Lake Bell's character was shown a picture of a dinosaur and didn't realize it was long since extinct, but I still like this show.
It's mindless entertainment, but at least the story is moving forward (more so than Threshold or Invasion)

I finally had a chance to watch this off the DVR and I came in here to see if anyone had commented about the awful Old Faithful effects at the end.
Turns out almost everybody commented.
I've seen better FX in 50's monster movies.
Anyway, I dropped Threshold right away, dropped Invasion this week, so it looks like I'll be sticking around for Surface. It's fairly entertaining at least.

Another entertaining episode. Damn freaky for that waterhole to go all the way down to red hot lava..... that's got to be quite a tumble for that boat.
I think an interesting question is why now? Why are the sightings now, what has made these creatures come up from the deep?

Another great episode I really like this show, it's not giving away all it's cards to the viewers, every week we get another piece to the puzzle. Besides another great reason to watch is the smoking hot daughter wearing all those bikinis WoW!

I really like this show alot, its very fun and love the creature feature feeling to it. But the visual effects at the end were Awful!!!!!!! Usually this show has had pretty good visual effects but the Old Faithful was pretty bad. Cool idea but looked bad.

About ratings: I do wonder how the reair of this on sci-fi affects ratings. I know I skip it on NBC because of conflicts, then catch the reair instead.
I have pretty much the same thoughts on this show as others. I'll stick with it for a while because the premise is pretty cool, though I dislike pretty much all four different character groups:
The government/scientist group is supposed to be the ruthless bad guys.
Lake Bell is dumb in that she's continually calling up the government and challenging them, putting a huge target on her (and her son's) back. Not to mention that most of her revelations are already well known by the government anyway. So where is her investigation going to lead?
The New Orleans family: the guy is wigged out, and his family's either going to be really understanding or really screwed up.
The kid and his family: Ugh. The parents are annoying and useless (though I have to think that this is on purpose). There are some funny moments that come out of hiding the creature, but please:
1. Doesn't dad think it weird that his son and his friend are gathered around a kiddy pool with nothing in it?
2. Good job hiding the creature, kids, by glancing at it over the father's back
Not to mention that horrid interaction with the one-handed comment. and I still don't see why everyone seems to find the sister to be "hot."
