Okay - I live in DC. What a JOKE this is! The locations are ridiculous (there is no lake next to Arlington Cemetary that *I* know of), but worse are the references to things like "The Jefersonian". Is that supposed to be the Smithsonian? I don't think that is a copyrighted term - nor do I think they'd care if it was used. Also they call where DB works the "Washington Field Office" of the FBI - last I checked the DC "Field Office" is the FBI Headquarters. Then I just fell asleep. I will go back and watch the rest of the TiVo, but it looked mostly laughable.

My favortie part: we got not one, but two different montages of Bones doing her thing over a pop music background.
I agree with Adam Tyner -- this wasn't actively bad, but as it stands now, this is not a very good show, either. Of course, the potential is there, so who knows. Maybe they'll pull a Tru Calling and retool it into something really worthwhile (only to have Fox cancel it).

it was okay, wasnt as bad as some make it out to be. I liked David Borenanz in it though. He as the best part of the show. I dont care for her co-workers I will watch only because of David Borenanz

Much as I loved Angel, can't count David as a bonus tho. Only non-Angel project I've seen him in is Valentine. Bleh.

I made it through a half hour, though I was reeeeeaaally tempted to switch it after the opening airport scene.

My wife and I had read some good things about it and decided to tune in (we love House, anyway). I thought the two leads were good but the background characters were too annoying and one-dimensional.
When I saw them coming into the lab around that big table, I thought to myself, "Please don't let that be a big hologram thingy" and it was.
At that point I could tell that they weren't going for realism at all. I know that CSI stretches things (a 2 hour turnaround on DNA tests) but at least there is some basis in reality.
I think I'll give it one more try and see how it goes. Sometimes there are a lot of changes between the pilot episode and the second episode.

The series premiere of "Bones" got FOX off to a healthy start at 8 p.m. with a 6.6/11. An "NCIS" rerun on CBS was second at 5.9/10, beating the season opener of "The Biggest Loser," 5.0/8, on NBC. "Gilmore Girls" returned with a 4.0/7 for The WB, which beat reruns of "According to Jim" and "Rodney" on ABC. UPN went with repeats of "Girlfriends" and "Half & Half."

I thought it was pretty good but was focusing more on seeing Boreanz with stubble for the first time. Not a good sign. Weird seeing him outside too.
I thought it was ok. I dont think I will be watching again.

Two fairly interesting leads with good chemistry, but at best, an utterly average pilot episode. The Boreanaz fanclub, and those who enjoy the books, may tune in and keep ratings afloat for a bit. Otherwise, I don't see this being a breakout in any sense of the word.

...and I guess there's a cheekbone density slider too.
If she's so out of touch with popular culture and the media, how would she know who this girl is, let alone be able to recognize her when she's initially shown as being part of a different race?

The thing I found most ridiculous was the "fetal bones" and they said she was not that far along in her pregnancy. When I was pregnant, I would get those week by week emails and the bones did not form until the end of the second trimester.
And the fact that the "ripped from theheadlines" story was Chandra Levy but with a black father. Ok, I guess that makes it different enough.

This show is scheduled to follow American Idol when it returns in January, with House moving to Mondays. I wonder if that will stay the plan considering all the negative thoughts about the show.

I agree with this. I didn't think it was awful, but it wasn't great either....and with how overly flooded the tv market is with crime shows.....I don't expect this one to last....especially on Fox. I mean they cancelled The Inside over the summer when there was nothing else on......and that was at least an interesting crime show in my opinion, it was dark and interesting. Bones has got nothing going for it really. It's survival will depend on how many people keep watching it just because David B is in it.

If they hadn't of put it on before House, they wouldn't of gotten me to watch and now that I watched it once, that's all, folks. Boy howdy, would it of been asking to much for some acting? How about a plot? And even though I love mud covered fake bones as much as the next gal, that was the worst crime scene depiction I've ever seen...... I was way expecting more with Kathy Reichs involved. I hope they paid her a whole lot of money up front and she invested the heck out of it!
As those that came before have so aptly pointed out, "I don't get it" got old and lame real fast. What planet is she supposed to be from? And if I was her, I'd prefer "Bones" to "boring" anytime........ I'm not interested in watching a gal that supposed to be intelligent and yet she doesn't "get" Mulder and Skully! I almost dropped out after 10 minutes too....... that whole airport ninja thing was butt-ugly-awful.
I did like the Asian gal....she (flash or no flash) was the best thing I saw in that hour. Forgive me for being too lazy to Google her name. She knows who she is.

This show was okay. It has an interesting premise and I like the leads. However, it's not really based in any reality I'm aware of (holograms?), the supporting characters were annoying for the most part, and they're trying too hard to turn Bones and Booth into Sam & Diane/Dave and Maddy. A lot of the dialogue between them seemed forced. I think if they scale their back-and-forth back a bit and try to keep one foot in reality and never ever ever focus a single episode on Bones' team of annoying clichés this show could improve. I'll watch it for a while, but if it doesn't get any better I'll drop it.
