Anyone else find parts of 24 really really lame?

I bailed halfway through season 1. I didn't like where it was going. I didn't like how long it was taking to get there. I didn't think it was going to get better. It seems that it didn't.

My wife and I gave up towards the end of the first season. After the daughter was kidnapped a second time we'd had enough.

I've stuck with some questionable shows, but "24" is officially off the list. Such utter crap...

Once I got over the fact that I can no longer take this show or it's situations the least bit seriously, I began to enjoy it a little more. That also happened about mid-way through first season.

24 doesn't have a single second of intentional comedy

Look, the show is nothing more than a soap opera for guys. That's it. It isn't supposed to be some life altering show on a different plane of existence. Enjoy it for what it is.

But Season 4(despite my enjoyment of it) was just ludicrous, even by 24's standards. Hopefully they come up with one terrorist plot for Season 5 and use that instead of the half dozen threats CTU had to deal with last year.

some people are way to critical with little things. 24 may not be the most realistic type of show but its always exciting and most of the time the most exciting thing on tv. every season has been stellar expect season 4 (start out great, got so-so in the middle and picked back up again towards the ending.)
my biggest gripe is that they need to focus less on CTU. theres only so many times you can have a spy in there.
but this show is still one of the best shows on network tv.

I used to watch 24 the first year but I lost interest in it. I caught the marathon and the free demo disc they gave out to get people to buy the dvds; and they used to air weekly on FX, too.
I think the problem for me is a 24 season is... tooo looonnng..
Longer than an average full season.
The concept doesnt have anything to do with the quality of the show. Its a throwback to the old Murder One format having one storyline for the whole season. Except you get to save money on things like wardrobe since we're to believe no one has slept yet.
But if the same season unfolded in a matter of weeks or months it wouldnt make it better than if i pretend this is happening in one day, because if it was real, i wouldnt lose interest in one day, but i would in the 6 months it takes to watch the whole damn thing.
I think the most ive gone besides the marathon, has been watching season 1: hours 1 to 17 and im pretty sure nothing happened for the majority except someone turned bad (who i knew was bad the whole time. [The guy from Sentinel.] ) So i could have got by watching only every other episode.
I did like the recent stuff seeing the same mother and son from House of Sand and Fog, which I thought was kind of weird. I would have never predicted theyd start running out of actors that are usually typecast as the different races they have to portray.

Yeah, it's only 2 episodes longer than a regular TV season. And since, in Season 4, we've been given some two-parters, it comes out to about the same thing. Add in the fact that they've begun airing 24 season in January, and it ends up being shorter (in terms of the time between the beginning & end of the season) than most other shows.
I have a lot of gripes with 24, especially how each season manages to devolve spectacularly (how many times did Marwan escape?) towards the end, and how some of the writing is extremely manipulative (making that VP-turned-Prez so unlikable and wimpy that of course we were going to cheer the return of Palmer), and inept. But like others have said, if you don't take it super-seriously, it's a lot more enjoyable. I do wish they'd work out the plotting a little better. They're getting some new writers this season, so hopefully some of our gripes will be addressed.
I disagree--Chloe's character is obviously intended to be funny. The comedy on 24 is actually one of the things that has improved. It's completely deadpan (Jack's "Didja get that?") and works really well within this show.

Everybody involved in the show is responsible for how bad the show has become, but I will say whoever cast Chloe is a total idiot. I love Mary Lynn as a comedic actress, but I can't see her doing anything dramatic and 24 doesn't have a single second of intentional comedy.

The show kind of started with one crazy plot for a whole season, but now they feel they have to sustain the supense by having a really crazy one with 7 crazy backup plots.
I think the show's gone past the gimmick. If theyre gonna stick with 24 shows you need tighter storylines instead of having a dozen arbitrary cliffhangers that feel like filler.
And it's not REALLY in real time. Take out the commercials it only runs about 17 hours.
But it's still a cool show.

My only gripe with 24 was keeping Kim Bauer in season 2 and 3. Her storyline should have been finished have season 1.
Other than that, season 4 was a thrill to watch. It fell a little flat at the end, but I think the show is still awesome.
Remember people, this is television, it's meant to entertain you. If you are one who nit picks on plausibility, then you should watch the news instead.

Does anybody remember the spoof of 24 that Conan O Brien used to do? i think it was called "60" or something. Each show was 1 second long? That was funny funny stuff. I'd love to have some of thoise clips on dvd.
