How was it her fault the show was going downhill?!

Common sense is anything but common. There are people who believe Ted McGinley kills shows once he joins them, even though Married With Children was on longer with Jefferson than with Steve. The fact of the matter is that McGinley joined those shows (Love Boat, Happy Days, Dynasty, etc.) after they had already declined and maybe helped keep them on for an extra season or so.

No...
..I don't think so..I think it was the creator/writers.
The first season was much more light hearted than the following seasons..and it got to the point where..
What HS in america has all this drama/craziness going on.

I never knew there was a consensus that Ryan had anything to do with BP getting cancelled...and yes, Braga and Berman ruined Voyager.
The moment the Doctor turned into a nice guy, I knew something was seriously wrong. He was great when he was a complete jerk!
Come on, Kelley, get FOX to release your shows on DVD!

I get the general opinion that Boston Public was killed more through it's increasingly sloppy writing and ever more ludicrous plots rather than the addition of Jeri Ryan. Technically, on paper, Jeri Ryan was a great addition to Boston Public but I'm still amazed that a few idiots blame her for the demise of the series, even though Boston Public was seemingly doing a splendid job destroying itself rather than being "ruined" by Jeri Ryan.
I can only guess that the main reason Jeri Ryan was picked on by malcontents simply because they needed an easy scapegoat to blame the decline of the series on. Poor Jeri fits the bill easily as a scapegoat; she arrived when series was a taking a huge nose dive (bad timing), she was fresh from a sci-fi series, so some morons were highly prejudiced towards former sci-fi stars, besides that Jeri Ryan was very attractive, so some idiots felt she was little more than eye candy, also some of the show's fans hate new cast members no matter what, so they react badly to any cast change.
I remember many TV critics who liked Jeri Ryan's addition to show, other critics were indifferent to Jeri Ryan and did not cite her as the main reason for the downfall of series in later seasons. The only critic that disliked Jeri Ryan's addition to the cast was USAToday douche bag, Robert Bianco; as a critic I find him to be unreliable at reviewing shows and I think he's a bland, brainless, fop.
Going by personal and online experience, the kind of people who blame the addition of an actor or actress for the decline of a series are either very clueless or little more than school yard bullies who like picking on weak targets. Because of Jeri Ryan's high profile and being the new star for a show that was already falling apart, she was an easy target for blame, rightly or wrongly. Sometimes actors or actresses go under extra scrutiny and have impossibly high expectations to live up to, even for a very good actress like Jeri Ryan.

Posted by JesseCuster: Not to get too far away from the Boston Public topic of this thread but Jeri Ryan didn't turn Voyager into The Days of Our Seven of Nine. The producers and writers did that and as a result, the show got too light and silly much of the time. Ryan is a solid actress who has the great fortune and misfortune of being ridiculously sexy and hot.
And as for Boston Public; her addition to the cast did stir things up abit and you have to take into account the show took a noticible nose dive in Season Two of that show and around about Season Three, Boston Public was a complete mess and it was not really Jeri Ryan's fault, although some fickle malcontents were given a scapegoat to lash out against for all these negative developments I've highlighted.
And now Jeri is on The OC and even as a guest star she is used as a target of irrational contempt (even though her Charlotte character is meant to be a despised character, but some OCers don't get it). I humbly believe Jeri Ryan is the most underrated and unfairly lambasted actress at the moment and she really deserves better.
