That's where I remember her! She still has her looks for the most part.

I got bored halfway through it and stopped. I may finish it later this week.

Looks like it did well in the ratings

HBO's historical drama "Rome" roared out of the gate Sunday, drawing 3.8 million total viewers to its premiere, according to Nielsen Media Research figures released Tuesday.

The $100 million co-production with the BBC opened to a 9.1 household rating and 13 share in HBO homes, making it the most highly rated program on the channel since the fourth season premiere of "Six Feet Under" in June 2004 (9.4/14). "Rome" drew just 80,000 viewers fewer than the finale of "Six Feet Under" in the same 9 p.m. time slot the previous week.

Strong as it was, "Rome" did not break HBO's record for series-premiere ratings. In March 2004, "Deadwood" managed 5.8 million at its bow, but it benefited from having "The Sopranos" as a lead-in. At 10 p.m., Hollywood hipster comedy "Entourage" saw its growth in recent weeks slow, settling in at 2.1 million.

I quite liked it. The sets are really epic. I'm curious how it'll play out, because it seems very class-orientated so far and that makes it more interesting to me than the basic good guy-bad guy dynamics we're used to seeing in historical epics.

edit : Totally off topic, but Mr X, I love your new sig. Much funnier and less painful to me than your last Roy quote. Did he really say that?

He reportedly said it at a coaches clinic in Milwaukee the day that Felton, May, and Williams declared for the draft.

Doh! I should have known that. I guess the Augustus name and no father threw me off.

I thought it was a great start.

The expected primary character introductions were solid.

I hope we see more of Cato the Younger in the Senate - he would obviously be a favorite character of mine.

Just watched the first episode. Big thumbs up from me. As with Deadwood, it seems that they're trying to stick close to actual history, but are willing to deviate from it for the needs of the story. I'm going to keep watching.

Ehhhh the show was alright. The music was fantastic as Beal is the the shit. And the sets were great as well. I just hope the fan base doenst drop alot, because if this show is expensive to make; once the rating drops below acceptable, itll be cancelled (ala Carnivale).

Am I the only one who didnt like the intro "battle" It was like 10 guys vs 10 guys. Plus how could that dude Titus not get slaughtered when he went out of line? He was surrounded! And I recall nudity was done quite freely, but a kid watching his mom bathe? Fucked up!

Its tons better than the last show I gave a shot (Over There) so Ill keep watching.

This is tame compared to some of the sick sexual stuff that occured during this period of history.

Watched it last night as part of the HBO free weekend. I liked it a lot. Not as good as "I, Claudius" but still very good (I'm a Roman history buff).

Those who found this boring would probably keel over dead watching "I, Claudius". I also have to smile at the complaints about the nudity.

If I like the second episode enough, I may just subscribe to HBO.

I haven't watched Rome yet since I'd rather have a few episodes on the Tivo before starting, but "I, Claudius" is one of my favorite shows, so I'll probably like it. I had a huge crush on Derek Jacobi when I was a kid (not from "I, Claudius" which I wasn't allowed to watch, but from Hamlet).

Plus, back then nudity wasn't considered a bad thing, it was a natural part of life before the puritan christians took over.

One good thing about Rome is that it is not covering the same period as I, Claudius, absolutely one of the greatest shows in the history of television.

Of course, when it comes to production values, Rome is far and away the winner. On the more important issue of content, we'll have to wait and see if Rome rivals I, Claudius.

This show's production design is awesome.

And I like how they are introducing a wide variety of characters - all of whom have positive and negative attributes - nobody is perfect.
