There's enough current in a piece of coax from dish to a receiver to cause a fire? That surprises me. Where's the power source?
Run the flat coax on the side of the door jamb, not the bottom. Problem solved

$16 for very limited basic cable. That is the networks and local channels plus TBS, WGN, TLC. I did the rabbit ears for a while but couldn't stand it. Big drop from when I had satellite tv and high speed connection.
I'm saving a whole lot now and it was good when I had a life (esp a relationship). Now, I don't have a life and thinking of spending more to watch TV all the time. SIGH!!!!

I pay 90 with comcast. That gets me digital classic, HD package, HBO package and high speed internet. I would have stuck with DirecTV but when I moved apartments I lost my facing and get cant the signal.
RE: the guy wanting Directv but cant attach it to the apartment. Here is what I did. I have the facing and could get the signal but was like you..cant attatch anywhere. So I went to Home depot, bought a 6 foot long aluminum pole and a flower pot. filled the flower pot with cement and stuck the pole in..next day I attatched the dish to the pole, ran the flat cable through the window (so it could close) and boom..D-TV

Adelphia in VT, is the only provider for cable here where I am at:
Basic Cable
Digital Cable
HDTV
DVR/Cable box
High Speed internet (I own my modem)
~$109 a month if I didn't have a modem it would be $5 more
I'd like to get dish but don't want to have to get a ton of recievers so I can run 2 tivo's and two TV's and you can't get all the local stations here on it as well as will it save me a lot of money because I need to keep Cable Internet becasue there is no DSL where I live.

I had digital cable for the introductory price of $40 but I've downgraded to the $18.00 24 channel basic cable 3 months ago. So far the cable company hasn't put the gizmo on my line that actually blocks the channels yet, but I'm still only paying the $18. I'd rather spend that money on DVDs or Video games then hand it over to time-warner cable.

$68 to DTV for America's Choice and 4 TiVo's
$63 to Comcast Cable Internet and Limited Cable TV
I can't wait for Verizon to start offering there Fiber TV and Internet service in my area so I can say goodbye ot Comcast.

Currently $133 for HBO and all the cable channels (no DVR) and HSI with Comcast.
I am moving in a few days and called to get transferred. I dropped down to the lowest digital channel lineup ($51) and they lowered my HSI to $19.99 for six months. That will be a lot better since I hardly watched any of that stuff I was paying extra for besides fights.
I would love to go with DTV/Dish and SBC, but you have to have a landline. I called SBC since they are running the DSL special and they said with the DSL and landline it would come to about $55. I would definitely go that route if they didn't require a landline.

$44.50 for standard cable (0-99) and $51 for the basic digital.
I went with the digital simply because here I would need an analog box that had A and B on it. I would have to get up and switch to the other range to get certain channels. The extra cost was worth not having to deal with that.

I packed up cable over a year ago and switched to Direct TV.
Best move I ever made.
Cable kept raising prices and dropping channels and their CS sucked !
I love Direct TV.
I have 4 receivers and I'm paying less than I was with cable with much more channels.
I'm also getting a free DVR (Tivo) soon.

Just tried? As in saw my thread, gave it a shot and it worked? Holy Hell thats awesome! What city do you live in? Ive been too busy to even try and I dont want to haggle on the phone and get tied up for awhile. Looks like I will soon though.
Direct TV is a satellite correct? Do they last better than they use to or do they still fuck up in bad weather?

Yeah, just tried after I read Red Dog's post on page 1 of this thread. They were eager to do it too. I probably could have gotten more off my monthly, but I didn't want to press my luck. I contacted customer service and when I told them I was thinking of switching to Direct TV for the NFL Sunday Ticket, they connected me to someone in sales and they asked "How much would you rather be paying?" I have digital basic now which was $65ish and I told them I'd rather be paying $50 with HBO. And that was it. A few minutes on the phone and voila. Thanks, Red Dog for the tip.

unfortunately, i'm having to pay about $105 to TWC for digital cable plus internet...NO premium channels.

Yeah, this is an excellent time to call for a deal because you can use the Sunday Ticket argument.

Currently $125 with the highest speed Adelphia Powerlink internet, HBO, Cinemax, Digital, HD-PVR service for 2 rooms. Oh, plus using Vonage instead of a Verizon for my landline I pay only $17 per month instead of $60 for phone so that kinda helps out...need a Vonage referral?!
Before Vonage I was paying $60 Phone + $65 DirecTV + $55 Powerlink - $180, so I figure I dropped down by going back to cable and geting VoIP to save $38 a month!

So hows Dish Network?
By coincidence I got something in the mail today for DN that offers:
Free 4 room system instalation
Free HBO Showtime Cinemax (25 stations total)
Free 1 month programming of any package (Whats this mean? Program what?)
Free HD Reciever and Free DVR
By my math though, once the free 6 months ends, Ill be paying around $106! But like I said, the cable I have now includes my Roadrunner Internet, which costs $40 alone. With my current package, I pay around $77 just for the cable I have. Hmmm. Maybe I can ask for them to lower my cable a few bucks and throw in Showtime or something?
Any suggestions?

I've only ever had cable, myself. Actually, for some reason, my HBO on demand and a few of the Mystery or Western channels say I need to call the local office to subscribe (although they're included in the basic package). But the good thing is that I have all HBO, SHO, MAX, TMC, STARZ channels.......
I guess I'll have to wait and see what they bill me for.

My signals are in the mid-90's so they're excellent. But I still lose reception in crazy downpours or very heavy snow.

$15 for channels 2-13. So basically locals.
<-- former Voom user unwilling to pay the prices the other companies charge.
They did leave the receiver so I can get locals in HD at no charge.
I'm wanting ESPN though for the fall, so I may resign myself to the cable companies ridiculous rates for HD content. $8 for ESPN HD and HD-NET?
