Jessica is channeling Cher's voice, which is ridiculous. I mean, Cher is great at being Cher, but unless you're a drag queen there's no reason to go down that road.
I don't get the love for Mig, JD and Marty. I think they're terrible. I just don't understand. I'm having Rupert flashbacks!

I agree that Tara shouldn't have gotten knocked for doing "Paranoid" -- SOMEONE had to do it and it's a great song! As someone said, INXS doesn't seem to know how they go about getting their songs. I don't like that there's exactly the same number of contestants and songs to choose from -- they should be given a little leeway by having some "extra" songs. We don't want to see someone stuck in Deanna's position every week.

Maybe next week I'll say I like Deeanna just to irk you.

I'm curious how they pick the "INXS songs", and how the contestants get ready for them. The big hits I can see, but last night they picked somewhat lesser known songs from the band's oeuvre in "Mystified" and "Don't Change". So how?
- There is a big list of INXS songs (20-25 maybe?) they pull songs from, and the contestants should know them all just in case.
- There is a set list of INXS songs (7 maybe?) they pick out each week, and contestants have to prepare for these with the knowledge that the 3 songs picked will be among these. The list changes each week.
- The band picks 3 specific songs each week, and all contestants must learn these three songs just in case. But who sings which of the three isn't decided until the bottom three is named.
- Contestants are expected to know EVERY INXS song, just in case. The band could potentially go with any song from their oeuvre, so the contestants have to be on their toes.

I'm digging the show so far. I love the elimination process - the voters have a say, but ultimately it is the band that decides who goes home.
With that being said, I'm glad that Tara hasn't been eliminated. I liked her when she used to front the band "Joydrop". I also thought that she did a good job with the 2 INXS songs that she had to sing - "Mystify" and "New Sensation". Her version of the Eagles song was ehhhhhhh though - IMHO!
I want Jessica to go. I was glad that she sang a Cheap Trick song last week, but it ended up making me cringe.
I am interested in seeing what JD does in the next few weeks because of his arrangements of "California Dreamin" and "Hand in my Pocket" (which I really enjoyed!). His ass-kissing wasn't necessary, but I guess that all reality shows need at least some drama!

JD's comment, I thought, was really stupid. It made him look bad and a little unlikeable.
I think that Tara has a nice, smooth voice, but I don't think that it is completely right for this style of music is the problem. She performed the INXS song well, though.
As for Neal, thank god he is gone. When I first saw him perform, he made me shrug. The last times I saw him perform (INXS song and Summer of '69), he made me cringe. I never liked him and was surprised at the initial support that he received from people on this board. Looks like he showed his true colors. I loved how the one member of INXS asked him after Summer, "We asked you to sing something a little more melodic. Do you think you succeeded in doing that?" And Neal totally didn't get that he was being slammed for his performance. "Yeah, man, I rocked it!" Neal reminds me of Jeff Spicoli, if he was a wannabe singer and not a surfer. Just a little too dense. People are saying that Neal should now go and front a Rolling Stones cover band. Correction, Neal should now go out and front a BAD Rolling Stones cover band.

I think they need to just put the names of the song in a hat, and just draw for the songs they sing. If you get a crappy song, too bad, suck it up and make lemonade out of the lemons you got for the week. They should also do the same for the INXS songs as well, have the bottom 3 draw songs from a hat and do the song right then and there.

Ugh, JD is really annoying me. Between his behavior tonight and his godawful attempt to rearrange yet another song just shows how limited his range is. For the love of God just sing a straight cover for a change.
As for Tara, I think having the lowest votes twice might actually help her since she did a good job on the INXS songs. Ultimately that's what the winner would be singing so so far it proves she can do them. That's not to say that I think she'll win, but it will probably aid her.

Thank god someone else is thinking like me. I keep hearing them talk about how great JD does with his song "arangement", yet he's just doing it because he can't hit any of the notes. "Lets see, I can't sing We Are The Champions, so lets make it hip hop". I actually hope he does that because he'll be out. VERY overrated in my opinion. I'm glad my girl Jordis didn't cave.
The guy singing tempted wasn't even close. That should be a nice train wreck tomorrow.
But the greatest part of any reality show happened at the end. When that guy sang Champions perfectly, then said "these guys are working on the songs, i'm singing them because i love them" (or whatever JD said). Just classic.

Yep. Mig (and Ty) were both in the Queen musical "We Will Rock You" and I promise you they can sing Champions.
Speaking of which, this may be because I just watched Queen at Wembley and Queen at Live Aid this weekend (for the millionth time) but I just find the idea of rearranging that song retarded no matter how you do it. Freddie Mercury was possibly the most perfect rock star/frontman ever to walk a stage and he had the unique bravado and humor to pull off such a pompous song and somehow make it work. "reworking" it is hopeless. I can't believe he fought for that choice. Kudos to Jordis for letting him have it and then not taking it back.

Yeah I think JD is screwed and I hope this whole rearranging thing he's trying bites him on the ass and he winds up one of the bottom 3.
As for the others I think Mig, Ty, and suzi are all going to gave a good week.

Ty has sort of a rabbit-mouth, just noticed it during the stage performance review segment.
Having the houseband say what a bad idea JD's re-arrangement was comical. Obviously JD is being portrayed as the ambitious villain of the group, but the producers know that it'll be more entertaining for the viewers to get a glimpse of the struggles, and entice us to tune in on Tuesdays to see if they can pull off a good performance, or remain stuck in a musical quagmire.

I liked JD's first two arrangements, but it's gotten to the point where it's a total gimmick. It's like a little kid who has learned some silly trick like a cartwheel. The first time they show you, you cheer them on and are impressed. The second time, you keep encouraging them even if the initial wow factor has diminished a bit. By the third time it's "Yeah, great a cartwheel. Yay."
The first two songs seemed suited for the rearrangements because they didn't take away from what made the songs good in first place, but instead just built on it. (This is also my criteria for a good remix.) But this Queen remake seems to take away the bombast that is absolutely vital to that song.

I'm interested to see if JD can put together a passable rendition. I loved how he wanted to do the song so badly that he had to go pull Jordis aside and pretty much beg to do it, than when it proved to be difficult, he wanted to reneg and trade with her. Kudos for her laughing him off and not giving in.
I also cracked up when he was like "Oh, and by the way, I would love to get to know you better once the competition is over" to her. What a cheesedick.

He's a tool. I hope that people will vote based on skill and not personality though. He definitely isn't the best singer, but he should be around a couple of more weeks.
