oh yeah, JD definitely failed the assignment. no doubt about that. But i think his teammates share the blame, not just him. it may have been the editing (it always is), but it really did not seem like they were listening to him at all.

I agree that JD's song was much better than Jordis's. He's an ass, but he's pretty talented. I think they were just shutting him out because they don't like him (which is understandable but a big mistake since his song was so much better than theirs).

He made a point of NOT doing that, and I'm sure that will come back to haunt him. As someone said, you may be a great musician, but you also have to be a part of the band. For JD, it's always all about JD and no one else.
Jordis and Marty basically just had a near-sighted vision of the song and refused to listen to JD, who made a very compelling argument on song direction. To go with a song with ZERO flow and ZERO sense in the lyrics made absolutely no sense. It was more about freezing JD out than anything else.
JD has been right all along - this is a competition. The songwritting competition was also that too, and he wanted to win, and he knew their shitty song was NOT going to. Marty and Jordis needed to back down from their position and actually LISTEN to JD. He was right.
There are only three people with any chance of winning this competition - Marty, Mig and JD. The final will be Mig and JD, and I expect Mig to win, mostly because he is Australian (like the rest of the band) and probably better suited to front INXS specifically. That suits me fine because we'll then get to see JD on his own and I'm looking forward to hearing what he does.

JD is the person who started with the "Survivor" tactics and now he's mad because the rest of the singers have joined in. What goes around, comes around. He's manipulative and dishonest. If INXS wants that type of person for their band, let them have it. But I can't imagine bringing in a person with his ego and histrionics is good for the band. It will all come down to the money. Who will help INXS sell records?

Great point. He is the one that is playing dirty so they did the same by using his ego against him. I guarantee Jordis and Mary knew he would blow up if they didn't pick his version. Even if his sucked, he would have wanted to use only his.

like i said, this things fixed, mig will win
Jordis was solid tonight
I'm starting to lose interest in this show as it moves into songs that are more suited towards American Idol. The last two weeks have bored me to tears. The reason i liked this show was because they rocked out and sang "ROCK" songs (imagine that). Very very bored with the show the last 2 weeks.

Funny, Jordis has been my favorite up until this week. I honestly thought she was the worst of the females tonight, and considering how I feel about Deanna that's saying something. I have to say Suzie and Marty are my favorites overall now.

Jesus, who is taking JD seriously? The guy is the very definition of "assclown"!
Most of those were perfectly fine performances, but I was not moved. Marty won the night for me, even though I used to scoff at him. Last week and this week he's REALLY impressed me. Suzy's Bitter Tears was great and she's still sort of coasting on that. Jordis is kind of leaving me cold these days. Ty and Mig I think are good but they don't do it for me. Jessica and Deanna need to leave. And JD... What a tool.

Hmm... none of the contestants blew me away, and they are all in the middle of the pack for me tonight:
Okay:
Marty - made the most of a bizarre song choice by INXS. He'll go far in this competition.
Ty - nice fun song that showcased his big voice. Too bad he's not likable.
MiG - thought it got a little pitchy and almost got lost on a few notes here and there. He's probably the band's #1 pick at this point, but I don't think he's a good fit.
Not bad:
Suzie - good job on a song she was not all that familiar with.
Jordis - didn't quite do it for me, she tried straddling too much happy with too little angst with "Knocking on Heaven's Door", but INXS loves her. I fear she won't sing INXS songs well enough, but they won't find out until 4 more people have been eliminated.
Not too good:
Jessica - didn't do Natalie Imbruglia any favors with her rendition.
Deanna - pressed a bit, and still lacks the nuances to take the song to another emotional level
JD - *zzzzzzzzz*

MiG and Suzie were by far my favorites tonight. I like Marty, but it seemed at times he was going overboard trying to make his version different from Britney's. I had to laugh at his twitching and super intense facial expressions. You don't need to do all that to decently cover the song. Travis do a great stripped-down version.
Ty's voice isn't bad at all, but he's really leaving me cold with his over-inflated confidence and cheesy stage moves. He also needs to keep his tongue in his mouth and burn those plaid pants.

fountains of wayne do a good cover of "...baby one more time" as well. and i was also weirded out by Marty's over the top expressions.
Ty is all show tunes up there in his mannerisms. smile, smile, smile. yes, it's good to have fun up there, but this isn't broadway. the guy can sing, but there's just something wrong with the way he acts. not very rock and roll, if you will.
JD didn't do himself any favors with the other rockers... i was on his side during the song-writing thing on the Sunday show, but now i'm back against him. just don't talk, man. and oh yeah, his performance was AWFUL. really bad. too bad dave and INXS are too nice to tell him it sucked. they just said, "not your best performance."
these guys have nice things to say about everyone, but dave, what a great compliment regarding MiG's performance. very sincere. i was even touched.
the girls had forgettable performances this week. jordis has really fallen off for me, since "Man who sold the world". Something just wasn't right about her performance tonight.

I thought Deanna did a good job, but it's getting tough to choose at this point.
Suzie really impressed me. I was praying that she wouldn't butcher Bring it on Home to Me. I didn't know she had that in her. She took it to church at the end there

Mig will no doubt get the encore, which I'm fine with. I don't even like that song, but when he was singing it, all I could think about was how much I love Carmen Electra.
I wasn't sure about Ty doing Maggie May at first, but he saved it when he kicked it into high gear at the end. The last minute or so was excellent.
I'm relistening to Jordis right now. Her voice sounds great, but I don't get how she can get so moved by The Man Who Sold The World and can't evoke the same feelings with Layla or Knockin on Heaven's Door. Still she did this much better than Layla. She should've been in the bottom three last week, but not this week.

I went through this episode a bit fast this morning, so I will rewatch tonight, but here are my initial thoughts:
Ty - I don't like the way that Ty oversings most of his songs. There is no doubt that he is more of a stage performer than a rock singer.
Marty - He basically did a remake of Travis' remake of Britney Spears.
Mig - I thought that he did an excellent job, both musically and vocally.
JD - This was probably my favorite performance by him.
Suzie - I really liked her performance as well. She could be a dark horse for the top 5.
Jordis - Very disappointed. The last two weeks have not been good for Jordis
Jessica - This chick just can't sing very well, IMO.
Deanna - She gave a valiant effort, but she just couldn't pull it off.
My bottom three:
Jessica
Deanna
Jordis

For the love of god get JD off this show. I would possibly stop watching if I didn't know INXS eventually gets to pick from the final three. There is no way in hell that JD will ever be picked by these guys. Zero chance.
Still not sold on Marty. He seems like a cool person to hang with, but each performance he's a vein-popping seether.
From day one I was thinking Ty, Jordis and Mig. Not much has changed in my mind.

There's a reason Jordis has been so bad the last two weeks. The songs. Those are incredibly hard for someone to sing, much less a woman. She needs more up beat songs. The first 3 weeks she rocked out, then she put a ton of emotion into Man who sold, but now she has 2 slow songs that don't suit her.
I just hope this show goes back to upbeat rock songs. THat's where she'll do much better.
