IT, followed by The Stand. That's about it.

The Stand - Excellent all the way through.

It - The ending ruined it.

Storm of the Century - Good, with an excellent ending.

The Shining - Yes, I know this was truer to the book than the Kubrick version, but I still like a psycho Nicholson better than the Wings guy.

Salem's Lot - Never saw the '79 version, but this was okay.

The Langoliers - Laughably bad, from the performances to the premise to the Pac Man Razor Teeth creatures.

I had to pick The Stand since it also happens to be my favorite King book.

The Tommyknockers also stands out in my mind. But only because halfway through the first night I had to go to the hospital to have my appendix removed. Never did get to see the rest of it.

The Stand. Not only a good tv miniseries, but a great book.

Let me clarify: "The Stand" was the last thing Rob Lowe was good in, not the last thing he was in that was good.

Crowded House's "Don't dream it's over" was also put to excellent use!

Chalk up another vote for the first (maybe 2?) parts of The Stand. The rest of it didn't seem be as enthralling. It's been a while, and I wouldn't mind seeing it again. I enjoyed The Shining as well, but not nearly as much as the Kubrick version.

Loved The Stand. Enjoyed IT. The others I watched the first night and quit.

It, because it's my favorite King book and they didn't TOTALLY mess it up. I'd love to see it redone someday with more bite, though. Langoliers isn't bad. I enjoyed the novella and this was an accurate rendition. The Stand has moments of greatness, but also moments of cheese. I've never read the book, though. The Shining would've worked better with about an hour or two cut. There was *some* suspense there, but for the most part it just dragged. Rose Red - This was just boring, IMO. The backstory stuff was interesting, but the main plot just didn't excite me.

My big problem will ALL of the made-for-tv Stephen King projects is that they stay true to the plots of the books, but they all feel kind of lifeless. Even the ones I like. They're like paint-by-numbers renditions of the books... they nail all the events but have no real style or mood. They just feel flat. I realize tv budgets are smaller than movie budgets, but there are a lot of low budget horror movies that can pull it off, not to mention tv shows like X-Files. I think a big part of the problem is they insist on hiring medicore directors like Craig Baxley and Mick Garris.

Langoliers was decent, true to the book, which is a plus. But the acting was atrocious.

The Stand probably had 60% of the book cut out, but was still good enough to make it my favorite. Jamie Sheridan made it.

I think that although The Shining miniseries is not as good as Kubrick's movie version, it is a pretty good and faithful adaptation of King's original novel, which I think is one of his best.

The weakest one, for me, is The Langoliers due to its rather silly plot and the scenery-chewing CGI pac-men (which was more laughably cheesy than scary).

I hope it is good. It was a great book. Decent little tie-in with Rose Madder, and I wouldn't mind seeing it as well, though it might be tough to do. Gerald's Game....now that would be a tough one.

Man, I HATED Gerald's Game - it was like a short story stretched ever-so-thinly into a long-assed book! I only hope no one ever tries to adapt that one into a miniseries!!

Agreed, but think how cheap it could be done from a costume design and set design point of view.

The Stand ... the only TV mini series I ever looked forward to ....
