all true. as one who longs for the sorking glory days, i always thought that this series should end at the end of bartlet's term. it doesn't look good with them being moved to sunday this year and then next year football comes to that timeslot.

Very true. It'll be on Sundays next season.

And since the Santos administration (presumably) will be taking office after the election, look for new (cheaper) faces in the West Wing. They've always suggested that some people will be gone, but have never mentioned names. (Though Sheen is probably a goner after he steps down since he earns a big check).

And the West Wing died after Aaron Sorkin left, this is more like "Son of West Wing"

I am looking forward to hopefully no more Toby. With Leo as the VP, I am thinking that it will be the dems that win.

No way. Toby is the best (not that I have watched the past season and a half - but he was the best when I watched. I'm off and on with the show now).

Get rid of the lesbian. Can't stand her.

Don't want Leo to win VP. That's a dumb decision that doesn't make sense.

Josh is the saving grace of the show, I can't believe Leo is gonna be veep, that's a crock of shit.

mrs bdb is rewatching s3 at the moment on dvd and loving the back and forth.

I still like the show, but the time has come to wipe out 2/3rds of the cast.
no cj
no leo
no bartlett and esp no mrs bartlett

bring back
josh
donna
amy
and the csi miami chick.

and I also like the nsa guy that was up against cj in the last few eps, maybe get matt perry in too.

I like jimmy smits, alda would drag it down he's too old for the role.

I think Alda is perfect for the role, and seems much more Presidential than Smits.

take this FWIW, but there was an article in tv guide this weeks about the show and they said that it's not a foregone conclusion that smits will win the election. as for who to bring back, you gots to have josh AND donna. one without the other is sorely diminished. also leo is great if he's given something to do. charlie too.

i assume they will bring back whoever will come cheap
and i doubt they will bring in any big names, after the budget cuts

that sunday at 8pm est timeslot is going to annoy me..
simpsons MUST be on my replaytv (in case Im not able to watch tv at that time, for any reason).. so I guess Ill either have to watch west wing live.. or resort to using my *gasp* vcr to record west wing

I partially agree with you on the Leo front. I want them to ditch the new Leo and go back to the old Leo. I just don't like the direction they've taken the character in the last two seasons. Maybe the VP limelight (and more nagging from Josh) will snap him back to his old sarcastic self. If you have Josh you gotta have Donna. I could take or leave CJ at this point. They should also keep Charlie but only if they continue to give him stuff to do. That's been I think the only redeeming feature of last season: the writers realized that Charlie could be an interesting character.

While I agree it's likely Smits is the way this was all intended, it would probably be easier to deal with budgetary issues in a satisfactory way if they went with Alda. A house-cleaning would be expected with a party change, and they could bring in old faces on a recurring basis if the budget allowed in new and interesting roles.

If Sorkin were still in charge, not only would Smits (or whoever would be playing the Democrat nominee) be the guaranteed winner, the Republican candidate would've been nothing like what Alda's been given. He would've been more like the candidate Brolin played in season four -- which was an obvious attack on Bush despite Sorkin's claim that his show didn't have anything to do with real-world politicians.

With a Republican and Alda lead White House, what would be the purpose of even having the old staffers appear at all? We like the characters, but the show is about the West Wing and its staffers, and the older staffers don't actually stick around when the new admin comes in, especially when its from across the aisle. It would just be too inplausable.

Brolin's character got more than a few hard shots at Bartlett

You mean like the Press Secretary becoming Chief of Staff?

I love a throaty voice but something about her voice is a major turn-off. Has a whiney sound to it.

The Press Secretary becoming the Chief of Staff is akin to all those nerdy and overweight guys in sitcoms married to hot babes - in TV land, it happens.

Republicans and Democrats working together in the West Wing, not even Hollywood can make that seem plausible.

I'd just started watching it again at the end of the last season after not watching it since I really got turned off to the show after 9/11. THe show just seemed like a joke to me all of a sudden.

But I won't watch it on Sundays, too much other stuff on to watch.
