Fire Me, Please

http://www.cbs.com/primetime/fire_me_please/
This new four-episode reality series follows two people starting new jobs on the same day, with the goal of intentionally getting fired by 3PM. To most people, getting fired seems like it would be the end of the world, but what if getting fired meant you could win $25,000? The person that gets fired closest to, but does not go past, the 3PM deadline wins the cash prize. Hidden cameras capture the action as the participants drive their managers and co-workers crazy with outrageous behavior
There's gotta be some things you're not allowed to do. If I were on this show, at 3pm, I'd take a shit on the floor in front of my boss.

Was thinking more along the lines of showing up drunk, naked, with self-mutilating bleeding cuts on my body and dried vomit on my chest.

You would suffer a miserable loss by getting fired way too early. The point is to get fired at exactly 2:59:59PM. The closest you can get to 3PM without going past it.

I would think the easiest way is to target the human resources personnel to do the things that will get you fired. Overtly, be a racist, a chauvinist, a sexual harrasser, a drunk, a violent jerk, a vandalizer.

[georgecostanza] I'm sorry. Is there some sort of a policy here against that? [/georgecostanza]

I gotta admit this is a pretty funny idea. It does stink of getting old fast though.

Premieres tonight (June 7)

I'll have to remember to set my Tivo. Sounds worth a look.

They should tie this in with "The Apprentice" where they put a plant on that show.

If Fire Me Please and The Apprentice come too close together they will implode and cease to exist after being released as reality TV energy.

Even with those parameters it seems like it would be easy to just go bezerk at 2:45 and get fired. It's not against the law to throw a cup of water in somebody's face, for instance.

EW gave this a terrible review -- said it wasn't funny at all.

I think it would be funny if the "bosses" were in on the joke, so nobody could get fired.

What qualifies as getting fired? Does the boss have to say “You’re fired!” or would being tossed out face first into the street symbolize being fired?

I believe that throwing water in someone's face would technically be assault.

Yeah, they'd have to be a little more creative. Like throwing pottery (Do you mind if I get out my pottery wheel during the board meeting? My sister's birthday is tomorrow. I swear, you'll barely notice me and I can listen an make a new vase at the same time.)

Or darts. I bet you could get fired for throwing darts at a board meeting, especially if you yelled "Aw shucks!" every time you missed the bullseye (not sure if cussing could be breaking some minor law, so keep it clean).

Is it against the law to scream at someone very loudly and constantly?

You might have to stay within a certain decible level. I think you're onto something, for as Jack Handy says:

If trees could scream, would we be so cavalier about cutting them down? We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason.

Candid camera had a laugh track.... to me this was CC with longer pranks, so the track was OK with me.
