Talk about being glutton for punishment. First they were at the top of the world with there single and now at the bottom. They will come on national TV and be embarrassed by being told you're still not good.

Being in Canada eh, I've seen a fair bit of Loverboy, and let me tell you, Mike Reno put on a lot of weight. Maybe he has taken it off again, but he ballooned for a while (anyone remember his duet with one of the Wilson sisters from Heart?).

I am disappointed about the covers though.

Artist - Original Hit - Cover Song

Loverboy - Working For The Weekend - Hero (Enrique Iglesias)
Tiffany - I Think We're Alone Now - Breakaway (Kelly Clarkson)
CeCe Peniston - Finally - There You'll Be (Faith Hill)
A Flock of Seagulls - I Ran - On The Way Down (Ryan Cabrera)
Arrested Development - Tennessee - Heaven (Los Lonely Boys)

I don't know any of those covers. Maybe some of them will sound familiar if I hear them.

I don't either, but it sure looks like it could be funny/sad.

Tiffany - I Think We're Alone Now - Breakaway (Kelly Clarkson)

Good Lord. A reality show has been using a reality show has been for material.

I think it would be highly inaccurate to refer to Kelly Clarkson as a "has been."

I can't wait to watch Loverboy's version of Hero and Arrested Development's version of Heaven.

That should be fun.

She isn't? That's more frightening than my original observation that TV has begun feeding on itself.

That VH1 thing was the straw that broke the camel's back. I'll be shocked if he even shows up.

I was thinking about this the other night and I don't like how the format of the show is set up.

1. It should be two hours, not one. Why?

2. Because the "eliminating" should be done via tournament style per episode (similar to what MTV did for a Battle of the Bands special years ago). Start out with five bands and start working your way down as the episode continues. Go from five, to four, to three, to two, to ultimately one. This work work better especially since it's the "live studio audience" voting and not the audience at home. It would also make the show interesting and a lot more fun.

Well she does have 2 singles in the top 10 of the billboard hot 100 and her album is 14 on the billboard top 200. So I would say at this moment she is not a has been. But i'm only basing it on facts not opinion.

No, dont you know that if an amature uses a talent search as a springboard to a huge carear, they MUST suck?

Not only that but she currently has the #1 top selling female album of the year and a sold out tour, all that without one appearance on American Idol. You can argue that she profited from the AI hype machine for her first album which is true but for her second album, which has been even more successful than her first, she did it all on her own, like any artist. Look at Ruben and Fantasia, they had the same hype as Kelly, yet have failed to top her success.

Frankly, I'm not watching to see what the audience thinks. I'm simply watching to see train-wrecks: how bad these geezers look and if they can still play.

What a bizarre bunch of covers. I think Tiffany has made out the best here, as she's a pop singer doing a pop song. Otherwise, I wonder if they are making these groups stick to the original arangements or if they are letting them put their signature sound on the songs.

How is a show with musical performances a 'reality' show?

As opposed to Kelly Clarkson, who is famous for being a Platnum Album seller.

Kelly Clarkson is not a has been at all. She is probably the only person who will come out of Idol with a successful, long running career. Radio doesn't embrace any of the other kids from Idol. Kelly even has three songs being played on radio right now -- two in the top 10. The girl has some serious pipes.

I think Tiffany's voice (isn't it raspy?) would fit Breakaway. Ive also heard "Hero" and "On the way Down" -- haven't heard the others.

Buddy48783, I am happy to see my scurrilous and ad hominem attacks on the lovely and talented Miss Clarkson were enough to finally get you to make the leap and join the forum. My work here is done.

Welcome!

not to be a d*ck, but a spoiler tag wouldn't have been a bad idea
