The radio this morning has been teasing Scott about www.votefortheworst.com and how that might affect the outcome of this contest.

Stupid media!

This will mark the first week I actually call and vote, solely to support the worst. Go Scott.

(Voted Vonzell)

I think AI should change the voting to who you DON'T want instead of who you do. That would help alleviate some of the reasons why Scott is still around.

And I guess it doesn't surprise me that some people are such a-holes and have nothing better to do than promote the sham by voting for Scott to discredit the show. I'd hate to have such a vapid existence as to waste an hour of my life each week watching something I hate and wasting my energy to pick up the phone and repeatedly call to vote for someone that obviously doesn't deserve it *just* to piss off everyone that actually watches the show for the "right" reasons and to prevent someone much more deserving of winning. Just kill yourselves now and save the oxygen for the rest of us.

I agree with that. If you're not a fan of the show, then why obsess over it and try to ruin it for others?

As for this week's show, I won't make a prediction this time. I haven't been right since the first or second week.

We've been through this debate before. Under that system, Bo and Carrie would both be long gone.

Every Idol has a core group of fans. Under a "Vote Out" system, those fans will vote against the Idol that poses the biggest threat to their favorite.

Let's pretend the fan breakdown is like this (using obviously made-up numbers):

Carrie - 700
Bo - 500
Vonzell - 200
Anthony - 100
Scott - 100

If Carrie has a really good night, praised by all the judges as "the best," fans of the other singers will vote against her as a threat. So, she'll get 900 votes against her, outweighing her 700 person fanbase.

Well said!!!

I don't agree with the vote who you want in theory though.
I do think they need to start charging for the calls.
.50 cents per call.
Donate the money to charity.
Yeah.. I know.. then the "poor" people won't get their say.
Maybe we can all set up a fund for those people. :/

That's sort of rude. Why waste your time trying to ruin it for the rest of us?

I think a great idea would be to have the bottom 3 (or is it going to be the final 2 now??) stand together, and then from that point on, eliminate the one with the least cumulative votes from the beginning of the season up until the night before.

I picked up on that idea from reading someone else's proposal. Just thought it was a good enough of an idea to mention/pass along.

I agree.

Frankly, I find it hard to care anymore after last week's travesty.

They each sing two songs. One from the top 40 of last year, and one by the 50s/60s songwriting team Leiber & Stoller.

A lot of their songs became hits for Elvis, The Drifters, The Coasters, etc. Many classics, including:

Stand By Me
Hound Dog
Jailhouse Rock
Loving You
On Broadway
Kansas City
Spanish Harlem
Love Potion #9
There Goes My Baby
Charlie Brown
Yakety Yak
Searchin'
Poison Ivy

They had a good mix of rockers and ballads, so the gang shouldn't have problems picking something that suits them. The obvious choice for Bo would be one of the fast Elvis tunes. Hopefully if he does Jailhouse Rock it doesn't come off as a goofy karaoke version, like Jon Peter Lewis' did.

Voting for Scott has nothing to do with liking the show or not liking the show. However, this season has to have been one of if not the weakest seasons of Idol ever. John Stevens v 2.0 (aka Anthony) is still alive and kicking. A one hundred year old former cokehead is still around. The most vanilla combo of Stevie Nicks and Leann Rimes to walk the earth is considered the best of the bunch. Vonzell, the best of the whole bunch has ZERO chance of winning, because there's no way the red states (sorry to bring this up again, but there is a red state factor in this show) will vote for Bo and Scott.

That being said, having Scott win this whole damn thing will bring me at least a little bit of pleasure because I want to see what they can do with him when the only picture I see of the goon is on the CD cover, which I probably won't have to worry about if I end up downloading it on Napster/iTunes instead.

Don't cry for Carrie or Bo if Scott wins either, they've got a future CD no matter what happens, and as we speak Pray for the Soul of Betty has been sitting in the top 25 of sales all week.

So the point is, it's not fair to call me an asshole when I just want some entertainment out of this show that has died a slow painful death this year with Mario quitting and lame fans neglecting to vote for Nadia/Anwar.

So why not help out Vonzell? She's the only reason I watch the show and I call in every week to support her. I mean she does have a chance to win..unless people who like her just get discouraged and vote for lame-o Scott. I agree with what you said tho, but it just kinda saddens me that I've liked Vonzell from day one, and she has become so huge, yet people just somehow don't take notice of her talent, beauty, and radiant personality.

Hmmm. I would have to disagree with most of this. I believe this has been the strongest year. Last year there was maybe two or three decent singers in the whole top 12. JPL and Red have effectively been replaced by the more talented Scott and Anthony. (Anybody who argues differently is tone deaf.) Jessica is easily as talented as Diana was last year. In fact, most of the top 10 are as talented as anyone in the final 3 last year.

The odd thing though is that unlike other years, most of the singers have gotten worse by the week. The early shows were very good to excellent. The last several weeks - meh to horrid.

The "red state" comment makes no sense at all. Aren't both Bo and Scott from red states? (Alabama and Ohio both went for Bush) and what does that have to do with Vonsell??
