Very Good
Carrie - her voice is pure enough to give me those good shivers when she sings, her songs were sung well, and I think she's definitely the one to beat, I don't see how she loses (especially now that Constantine is gone - you just never could tell how his fanbase would enough the voting, but that's a distant bump in the road now).
Good
Bo - really good 1st song, but that second song felt like he just phone it in, and I could barely make out the lyrics in the verses, and he sort of mangled the chorus for that song, he made a memorable song unmemorable, which is a cardinal sin for a singer.
Vonzell - some parts of each of her songs were good, but I didn't think she was "there" entirely during each performance, and she got a little shrill in the first song, but was a little more relaxed in the second song.
So-so
Anthony - lazy first song, horrible song choice. But he let loose on the second song, provided the chills and tingles that only he and Carrie can give to me, the listener, and did well enough with a song meant for many different vocal ranges.
Not Good
Scott - he wants to be the next Aaron Neville in spots, but his vocals never fail to leave me cold and disinterested. Tonight was no different in either of the 2 songs. I hope he goes home tomorrow.

Anthony - His first joke was a sad joke. I agree with Randy about the Backstreet song... it was okay, but clearly was inferior to the real version.
Scott - Color me surprised, as I actually thought he did a good job tonight. His second song especially, which may be his best performance yet IMO. I did think he sunk to new lows (or is that highs?) in arrogance tonight, but I'll give credit where credit is due.
Vonzell - Awful first song, but she did a good job with the second one. It was a lit cheap to perform the frickin' official Idol song though. [Gob]Come on![/Gob]
Bo - A fair rendition of Stand By Me, but it just sounded like a rock singer doing a cover. In that I mean it was good, but average in the grand scheme of things. His rendition of Heaven was perfectly fine, but it sounded pretty much like the original. He'll fit right in with today's rock radio, but I'm not sure he'll stand out.
Carrie - She sounded great, but she's been picking stuff I don't dig so much. Actually my two favorite performances of hers were Could've Been and Love is a Battlefield, two songs I'm really familiar with.

Scott was surprisingly strong during "On Broadway", although he seemed to be directing a little bitterness at Simon. He was kind of obnoxious tonight too.
Anthony was terrible on his first song. Bad choice and bad performance.

Kind of obnoxious? His ego is fatter than he is.

I think Scott is too cocky. There is a difference between being confident and being cocky. And I think Scott has crossed the line into being cocky tonight.

Latoya was my favorite (And the one I picked to win) of those "3 Divas". And as much as I respect Kelly, she didn't wow me the way Tamyra did with "Touch me in the morning" and "House is not a home". I still can't get those performances out of my head.As for tonight, I was the most pleased with Bo.
Anthony or Vonzell might be leaving tomorrow. But I certainly wouldn't mind if Scott was finally let go.

Vonzell has a good voice (when she picks the right songs), but I can't stand her stage presence. It's too fake. She tries to hard to smile, and everytime the camera is on her, she's always posing. Every move she makes seems coldly calculated for maximum effect on the audience. And picking the Idol song was very, very tacky.
Scott was actually very enjoyable tonight. But Bo beat them all by a mile.

1st round: I thought that was the best performance from Carrie in a long time. I had a feeling when she did the lip curl in the video intro that maybe she was looking forward to doing an Elvis song. She blew the rest of them away.
Anthony didn't take his performance seriously at all. Apparently he seemed to think nobody was going to care about these old songs from the 50s and he could just pick something with silly lyrics and coast through it.

2nd round: add the above to The Backstreet Boys and say goodbye to Anthony. He did a good job on the song, but it's the Backstreet Boys! I thought everyone did a good job in the 2nd round, but Bo had the best song. I'd rank Vonzell right behind him.
As for Triple S saying this is the worst season, what a joke. Sure, everybody loves to rag on Anthony, but he is much better than John Stevens. Top to bottom, this was definitely the best final 12. Not only is the overall talent better, but the music selection is better. No Barry Manilow week! They've had a much wider variety to choose from each week.

is it possible for anthony to get ALL THREE bottom 3 spots this week?
he stood out WAY above the rest as bringing the most suck last night.. That was just completely horrid to watch.
scott did a pretty good job.. but should be in the bottom 3
randy must have been smoking crack lastnight while listening to vonzell, because he was a long way off.. she was ok, but not even close to the ass kissing he was doing. I could definitly see her in the bottom 3, but safe.

Tonight he was fairly gracious to both Scott and Anthony even though they were the fourth and fifth best, respectively. He was pretty hard and Vonzell and she did a pretty good job (but tends to be in the bottom three)....
was all of that to get Anthony or Scott voted out and to get Vonzell another week?

Carrie's second song gave me a few chills after her long high note. EASILY the best of the night on both accounts.
As usual, the judges suck up to Bo again, even though his two renditions were just OK copies of the originals. Nothing special.
Scott - I don't even care what he did. The little jerk needs to go.
Anthony's first song was so bad, he actually deserves to go.
Vonzell - weak also.
Bottom 3: Scott, Vonzell and Anthony.

Once again, Bo doing an average version of a song(s) and getting praise because he is unique to anyone else in the competition. The only way he screws up is that he has to completely kill a song. Otherwise, he can be average but stick out amongst the other type of singers.

Did anyone notice Simon's sly reverse psychology move? After telling Scott to pack his bags last week, he does a 180 this week and tells Scott he was pretty good (he wasn't) and then tells Vonzell she could be in trouble. It was an OBVIOUS move to get more votes to Vonzell (who Simon really likes) so she can stick around another week - since voters usually have pity on someone Simon really bashes. Surprised no one else has mentioned it from last night's show.

One question, where are the guest judges this year? I think the reason I'm getting bored with the show is because it's the same each week. No guest judges to look forward to. Why'd they change the format this year. They have pretty good singers who I root for, but it's starting to get dull. Bring on Ludacris as a judge!

The guest judges were brought in during the audition stage. I didn't catch a lot of the audition shows, but from what I remember from the comments posted on here, they were much more willing to actually be critical and honest, as opposed to just being Paula's echo like they usually are during the competition stage.
