Wonder why Peter didn't mention Futurama in his list?
Weren't all the shows mentioned ones that started and stopped since Family Guy went off the air? Since Futurama started around the same time as Family Guy, I figure that's why it wasn't mentioned.

i was expecting some line to flint inquiring as to why in the hell was he in the school's bathroom...

but man, that stewie head turn was amazingly funny. weird how such little things turn out to be so hilarious... "it's turned his world upside-down face" and of course, the dad's reply, "I don't care if it's turned his world upside-down face"

Flint coming out of the bathroom stall is the new Kool-aid man jumping through the court room wall. Nobody saw it coming!

Saw it a couple times pre-air but was still hilarious watvhing on tv. It's so great to have it back on Fox!

Loved the show but don't think it will last long. The world isn't ready for the sting of Family Guy. American Dad and the Simpsons were so poor next to Family Guy.

Ratings:

The return of cult animation fave "Family Guy," which Fox canceled nearly four years ago only to see it have renewed life in reruns and DVD sales, packed a punch with an average of 11.9 million viewers and 5.7 rating/13 share in the adults 18-49 demographic, according to preliminary estimates from Nielsen Media Research.

"Guy's" showing was particularly impressive given the tally for ABC's 9 p.m. monster "Housewives" (25.9 million, 11.4/25).
Simpsons averaged 10.7m for it's full hour, 9.5m for American Dad.

So out of last night, we got one great episode of the simpsons (fat bart) and the return of family guy. Not bad. (Missed King of the Hill and Malcolm).

Family Guy is a money machine. I don't think even somewhat low ratings will get it off the air (at least I hope not). There's just too much money to be made off of DVDs and syndication. That's why it was brought back in the first place. Fox realized they threw away a gold mine.

PS: The episode was Freakin Sweet! FG is back and as great as ever. I can't wait for the next episode.

Fox has ordered something like 39 new episodes and only comitted to air 13.

They know DVD Sales/Synd will drive it, regardless of Nielsens.

Didn't even notice how many pics he has of himself.

While the ratings weren't through the roof, they're still much better than most of Fox's shows (other than Idol, House, and 24). Plus it elevated Simpsons' ratings, which were stagnating. I do think Fox made a mistake airing all those rerun episodes in that timeline since January, though, as I know a few people who didn't realize these episodes were actually new (somehow they missed the subtle Animation Domination reminders Fox has been putting out).

Couldn't agree more. Family Guy just kicked ass and made those other shows look downright bad.

Harsh Realm premiered the same year as FG. It's well known that The Simpsons crew dislikes Family Guy, so maybe that's why FG didn't mention Futurama. That's a stretch, but can't think of another reason (other than Futurama being a sister hit on the Adult Swim bloc).

Great episode. I loved the Hitchcock reference, the trailer for Passion of the Christ 2, and nearly everything else in the episode. Hope the rest of the season holds up as well.

I stuck around for American Dad and found it to be a lazy, unoriginal carbon copy of Family Guy. Seriously, the characters are written exactly the same, which pissed me off. For the rest of the season I'll be tuning out after Family Guy is over.

I never saw this show until I bought the first DVD set. I am glad it's back on the air. One of the best shows on TV right now.

I'm not too thrilled with American Dad yet. I'll give it a few more episodes to see if it improves.

I loved the whole Jughead comicbook scene - it was just such a classic Peter scene.

I caught this last night at a friend's house, since I'm not a cable subscriber. It was even broadcast in HD, which made it look equal to (if not better than) the DVD episodes. Terrific stuff, easily on par with the older stuff. Can't wait for the next DVD volume!
