Pretty awesome play on Janu's part.

I think she knew that she didn't stand a snowball's chance in hell of winning, so she fell on her sword and fucked up everyone's plans to oust Steph. Pretty much took her ball and left.

I would liked to have known a little more about what went down that we weren't shown. At first it seemed like Tom was trying to keep Steph in the game, and then later it seemed like he was going to let her go -- or he knew she'd be voted out and didn't want to make waves. I'd love to know how everyone would've voted.

Next week should be interesting...
Spoiler:
potential 4-girl vs 3-guy alliance. I don't know how long that would last, because I could see the other girls, esp. Caryn and Jen, turning on Steph. Not sure where Tom and Ian (and Katie?) stand with Steph now. It seemed like there was an alliance there, but it doesn't look very tight. And will Jen turn on Greg?

Why did Janu get an end of game response? I remember when Osten quit, the feeling on the producer was something similar to "We don't let quitters talk".

Why the sudden change?

In a weird way, Janu sort of went out a winner.

She started the fire on the island and scored a personal victory, and then, at TC, she got to fuck up the majority's plans. That's more than she's accomplished the entire time she's been out there.

All she had to look forward to was squeaking by not being a threat until she outlived her usefulness and got voted off. This way, she gets to go out with a big FUCK YOU.

I can admire that.

I think that Tom should have taken a dive at the immunity challenge. It's now 2 weeks in a row that he has won - well actually more if you include his tribe, and his strength is showing now more than ever. Then again, I don't think he knew he had won when he did (Jeff told him).

Also, at the end of Vanuatu's Season Finale, Jeff told people to send in applications to be on a future "Survivor". He also quipped "Do not apply if you intend to quit".

Now we know why.

I'm done with Survivor. Even though I thought Steph deserved to stay in more than any of the other girls, Jeff influenced the voting and persuaded Janu to leave. Any credibility the show had with me is shot.
If Steph ends up winning there should be an asterisk by her name.

Tom's "hand snorkel" was genius. I hope the rest felt dumb for not thinking of it.

Persuaded? Influenced the voting? He asked honest questions and forced an ADULT to address the legitimate question of what she was still doing on the island. Just because it was clear what he felt about it doesn't mean that Janu's quitting wasn't entirely her own responsibility.

I thought of it immediately. Then again, I've been well fed, and have been sleeping pretty good too for the past 26 days. Heh...

They seemed to quit in a line with Tom all the way on the left quitting last.

I think that that platform must've been uneven cuz it didn't make sense that they would pretty much quit in order.

It looked like the girls were underwater quicker than the guys.

take a dive? Everyone already knows that Tom is the strongest competitor. He needs to pull a Colby and win out.

Not only Janu. You can make a case that although they were voted out, Jeff (Mr. Ankle Sprain) and Ashley (Ms. I can't take it so vote me out) quit, too.

Well, if you've watched Survivor in the past five years you ought to have noticed that Jeff attempts to influence the voting at every tribal council. Not so much in the first few years, but lately he always asks pointed questions trying to reveal facts to the players that they might not know. Questions that point out a players faults, plans, or thoughts. They have just never worked quite as well as tonight.

Frankly I'm gald he did it. It's certainly going to make for a better show. Who wanted to see Janu stumble around for another three days, be the first out of the immunity challenge, and be voted out next week? Not me.

I was surprised Jeff didn't give Janu more shit for quitting. Didn't he do that with Osten and didn't even snuff his flame?

I think he would have if it didn't mean that Stephenie stayed in the game. It looked like he wanted Steph to stay because she was there to play. She competes hard in challenges, and I think she'll play the mental aspect of the game as well. There are few contestants left that do that.

Certainly not Janu. Jenn, Caryn, Katie, and on the mental side maybe even Ian aren't playing very hard. Tom, Gregg, and Steph are the best players left.

It certainly felt like Jeff persuaded Janu to quit, as she was basically willing to hang around and keep taking the punishment and she also didn't seem to have the idea of messing up the tribes plan to vote off Steph until Jeff got her going and let Steph talk. Maybe it's gone down like this before and they've edited more of it, but that seemed like a very different tribal council than I've ever seen.

I don't get what's in Tom's head that he was willing to go along with the idea of voting Steph off and being ok with Gregg and Jenn making their alliance-a five person alliance. Doesn't he think that having those two around is dangerous and would also allow Katie and Ian to group up and they'd have the number on him? Gregg is the 2nd best player all around. Ian and Steph are a tie for 3, depending on what the challenge is. If he stayed with Steph, Ian, and Katie, he'd be in better shape as an alliance since Ian and Katie truly like Steph and want her in the game and it would basically leave a fight between Steph, Tom, and Ian in the challenges.

I'm still rooting for Steph and I don't blame her one bit for seizing on Jeff's comments and making a case for Janu to quit. You do anything short of hurting someone to win this game. I still never get how there are people who say things like, "Why are you talking behind my back?" or saying that this kind of thing doesn't happen to them at home. No sh*t, are they giving away 1 million dollars back home or are they playing a game at home?

I think Steph is a goner next week, though. I tend to think the teasers making her look like she's gonna turn the tide and get the women together and the men talking about hoping this didn't come back and bite them in the ass, as an almost sure sign that it won't. Also, I know I don't believe Jenn would turn on Gregg and I'm not even sure Katie would turn on Tom and/or Ian.

I just think, as someone else mentioned, Gregg is playing a better game and Tom is just winning the challenges, because Tom would be in a better position with Ian, Steph, and Katie and I'm surprised he doesn't see that and I don't think it will change in three days.

I am extremely happy with the outcome of tonights TC. I'm REALLY hoping Steph goes all the way, but I also feel she's probably gone next week. There's no way those girls won't turn on her the first chance they get, if she indeed tries to start a girl's alliance. I think she's better off trying to convince Tom and Ian to keep her around. If she does go, I'll continue to root for Tom.

I'd also have to say that Steph is easily my favorite female Survivor contestant since Elisabeth, if not more so because she's actually a competitor.

just to mention, IIRC, tribal councils tend to last at least a hour long, jeff asks a lot of questions, we see just a portion on television.

Tom is great in the challenges, but is a total goof for not getting rid of Greg right now. He could just have just pulled Steph, Ian, and Janu to the side to vote Greg off and seize total control of the tribe. To be fair to Tom, I'm not even sure if he's on to Greg yet, but
Greg is playing old boy like a fiddle.

I don't believe Janu should be allowed in the jury since she quit the game. I love how she said to Katie something along the lines of "your playing games". Well you are currently in a game. She has got to be the worst contestant ever. It's a shame that 2 people got kicked off after a couple days in the school yard pick 'em at the begginning and she stayed. I think Janu was looking to quit for the entire game and she finally found a reason to quit.

Janu had no allies left in the game, and she wasn't liked by anyone. I am not surprised that she quit. I think that she would have been voted out anyway. I think that it only delayed Stephenie's execution by another week, since I think that she goes next.

Too bad this tribe didn't use the gender distinction because Ian or Greg would be gone if the women were smart enough to ban together as a voting block.

Yeah well by quitting she can look forward to living in the lap of luxury in a posh hotel with Coby for the remainder of the game interrupted briefly every few days to watch a tribal council.

I know many people think this is a cop out and Jeff was wrongly influncing things, but he ALWAYS does that in tribal council - he points out all the big stuff so everyone has to think before they vote. If he rocks the boat and planned voting strategies fly out the window, it makes for more thrilling viewing... an unexpected twist (at least once cleverly editted I'm sure)! Ultimately, it is the idiot contestants that VOTE so to say that Jeff manipulates the game... well, let's say that Bush bought the 2000 election with his $300 tax return.

its shocking to see that no one sees Greg as a threat. Tom should have stayed with his original thought of keeping Steph, the outside Vote, as the key ingredient to his scuccess.

She is a strong player, can win her share of immunities and can keep that final 4 alive.

But now, Steph knows what is what, and can play all out trying to band the women together. But the reality, that plan only works if she wins immunity next week. It is the key week that will dictate the major change in the game.

I gave a Standing O when Janu laid her torch down, I so did not want STeph to leave right now, she is awesome.

Week to Week I am just hoping Steph and Bo (Idol) stay alive. One more week and counting...
