Haha, ok, I've gotta ask...I've never watched TV in HD, so I don't know if you're full of it or if you were being serious? And if you were serious, is HD actually THAT much more detailed?!

Here's a question I hope some can answer. I just got a HDTV and a HD cable box from my local cable company. My HD channels are breathtaking, the movie channels are beautiful but my regular cable channels look like crap. Is this normal? If so, is there any way to bring the other channels in clearer? Maybe a signal booster perhaps?

My analog cable channels look worse on my 30" Sanyo than they did on my old 27" Trinitron, but I rarely watch them so it doesn't bother me that much.

That's a common problem on HDTV's, it's mostly because you're getting a scaled up version of a worse signal, so just like zooming in on a picture on the computer (in real life, not CSI land), it becomes worse, especially by comparison. On my TV I've found that the proper TV settings for standard tv and hdtv are way different; if I leave it on the HDTV settings the standard tv looks like crap. By fiddling around with it, I got the standard TV signal to look acceptable, or at least a lot less washed out. Also, different channels vary in quality, at least with my cable provider, Comedy Central and Cartoon Network look good, while ESPN (standard) isn't too fun to watch. It'll probably never handle it as well as a small tube TV would (unless maybe you got a smaller tube HDTV), but I think the tradeoff is worth it.

Yeah.. check out Desperate Housewives... Terri Hatcher has these bags under her eyes that SD (and of course, makeup) conceal pretty well. And can can practically *see* where Nicolette Sheridan's been getting those Botox injections.

Just tonight, my GF and I were watching the NCAA finals downstairs (in HDTV) and she commented that the white guy with Greg Gumbel (Seth Davis?) *really* needs some "Just For Men"... We went upstairs to the bedroom at halftime (to the SD TV) and we laughed over how much *less* noticeable his grey hairs were in SD.

Oh, and wait until you see Cameron Diaz in HD... Man, *that's* a disappoinment!

Check out Jay Leno. The PQ is outstanding and it's interesting to see all of the guests in HD once you get over looking at Jay.

I then realized, I only watch one show on CBS.

But, the NCAA final should look good tonight! I'll turn that on after 24.

At any rate, I recommend the Discovery HD theater. I've been watching a crapload of that.

BTW, are you using the HDMI out? How is that working? I had to return the first one because of that already. Now, the optical audio on #2, keeps popping in and out, and I think the hard drive is periodically freezing up.
How does the waiver thing work? can you get the cbs/fox etc hdtv channels off the satellite? i have somewhat dodgy locals at times.

I use the HDMI output and it works fine with my samsung DLP tv. Using the supplied cable.
