Some of the cars they pimp are in pretty bad shape

it looks like for the most part, they don't fix the engine. There have been a few episodes where they've either replaced the engine or fixed it up.

As with most Pimp My Ride questions, the answer is tweed.

The few times they have replaced engines, they have got used or partially rebuilt ines. They are showe only, and according to some half-ass show. This is why Overhaulin is a much better show, to bad their format is weak.

I concur, if I had my choice of having Pimp my Ride or Overhaulin work on my car, I'd definately choose Overhaulin. Because it's the complete package, while Pimp My Ride is all about the flash.

Of course I would rather have my car done by the people on Overhaulin. But the show itself is unwatchable. The fact that Pimp my Ride is mostly just doing cosmetic work, and going way over the top is kind of the point. Hence the "Pimp" in the title.

My question is how many of these cars have been broken into since the show started? I'm guessing a number of these people don't live in great parts of town since they can't afford better cars. My car was broken into twice in 2 years in a good part of town so the bad guys could steal my $100 radio. The fact that they have thousands of dollars worth of audio, video, and other fancy equipment, I would guess their cars would be an obvious target.

My friend was on the show last year, let me fix some myths. This isn't a joke...

1) Show is FAKE. Those aren't his friends, his parents, his house. All fake, they fly them out to Long Beach and make that all up. Everything you see there with his friends at the beginning and end is a lie. Hilarious.

2) They said my buddy was a DJ so they put a DJ set in his trunk. Guy has never DJ'ed in his life, COMPLETE BS. They make up a ton of stuff.

3) He smoked out with Xzibit afterwards

4) They don't do SHIIIITTT to the engine of course.

Whever I watch this show, I always just yell out "why don't you just give them a new fucking car".

They have. Twice. But I agree. They have some really big pieces of shit on that show. And I'm talking after they have been "pimped".

I remember sometime last year the girl that got the old VW Bug pimped out tried to sell it on Craigslist. She got a lot of sh*t for it too from what I recall. That's all that I've heard or seen from the cars that have been pimped. I would presume that the owners would try not to park them out on the street so as to avoid having them stolen or broken in to.

Maybe the owner having a garage available to put the finished car in is a requirement for the show?
