She had a BABY!
Do you expect her to pop the kid out, lose all the extra weight acquired throughout the pregnancy just like that!? It's NOT possible to lose all the weight. Its unrealistic. Sure you lose some of it but not near all of it.
Like someone else said... it takes 9 months to gain the weight, give her the same amount of time to get back to "herself."

Hi, I'm Julia Roberts, and exactly three months
before this picture was taken, I gave birth to twins.

I have to factor in the fact that see is not my favorite celebrity in real life when I form my opinion that she is fat. Of course she isn't fat in the everyday since of the word but by Hollywood standards, she let herself go after the baby was born. 99% of actresses get back into shape within a few months tops. She always came off in interviews as a prissy bitch that has everything handed to her. Not surprising that when she needed to work a little bit to take off the pregnancy weight, she was too lazy to do it. Flame away PC crowd.

I'd venture the majority of guys realize the life of tv personalities is vastly different from our lives. They get paid for what they do onscreen and how they look onscreen. May not be realistic but the reason why leah remini is getting flack is because as noted above, the majority of actors who give birth lose the additional weight much much quicker than your average person.

Ah I think some of you are missing the point or just never saw early eps of the show... Main hook of the show was this average blue collar dude and this freaky hot wife. That hook is now gone and as heartless as this sounds as if I was a producer of the show, yeah I would be a little upset.. Same as if the guy on the show went off and got all ripped up or dropped down to 140 and looked sickly.
Modern actors get paid $$$$$ to play roles and in most cases part of the role is how they look as unfair as this is to everyone and of course it's not real life at all. Clearly for a lot of roles is does not mater.. Cast her as police dispatcher on that new Blind Justice show her look is ZERO issue.. Errr sep in this case, again, the hook of the show and her getting cast in the first place was alot about looks.. So yeah, the change is an issue..
This happens in reverse too you know.. A few years ago when Patricia Heaton had all the work done on her and the big fake rack bolted on the show Everybody Loves Raymond has issues with it also. In that case Patricia is meant to be this every day looking lady married to every day guy and they were saying they wanted to dress her down more and so on to not change the theme of the show. Being all of sudden she had this huge make over.
I never gotten how normal people get really upset over the harsh judgment of how actors and so on look. We all know it's not real life and I'm sorry but if you are paid $$$$$$$ to look a set way then the gym is your job.

Man, verrrry verrry verrry shallow people...Tell all your wives that they must lose weight after having a baby...How about tell your baby girls only one meal a day so they don't grow up fat...lighten up..she will lose weight eventually. I do believe she has to, she is filling in the role of a hot wife with a fat loser husband. But it can take some time!! Oh and Leah Remini's personal trainer and Julia Roberts' are on two different levels. One is training an actress in the 11th hour of her career, and the other: "America's Sweetheart" (even though I cant stand Julia Roberts).

It occurred to me that probably a big part of it for me is that her character is so unlikeable. She was unlikeable back when she was hot too, and I found myself questioning Doug's decision to marry her. Now when the "hottie goggles" are removed from my eyes the imbalance becomes all about how he is a likeable and funny guy, and she is a 100% negative bitch - instead of being about their disparate levels of attractiveness.

Well, I didn't watch the show to drool over Carrie ever week. I watched it because it was a funny show.
However, the comedy came from seeing the contrast of a skinny, pretty wife and a overweight, dim witted husband. Visually, that was hilarious in itself.
Also, remember the earlier episodes. Carrie, in an arguement, would bring up Doug's weight. She'd call him chunky or fat. I just watched an episode in season three where she wanted him to lose 50 pounds. The whole episode revolved around that. So now, you can't do those jokes. Well, you can do them, but the laughs won't be there. If you have a skinny wife calling her fat husband "chunky," it is hilarious. If you have a much thicker wife calling her fat husband "chunky," it comes off as hypocritcal.
That's my biggest problem with the weight gain. It's not about her not looking good. It's about the comedy suffering in some respect because of it.

All I am saying is it is not healthy for her or her career to gain so much weight during pregnancy and then do nothing for up to a year to get back in shape. Go ahead and say its ok to gain 40 pounds during pregnancy and not take it back off, go ahead and say it is normal to gain 20-40 pounds in college, go ahead and say that it is normal to gain 20 pounds in your first year of marriage, go ahead and say it is normal to gain 5-10 pounds per year after you hit age 25. Go ahead and tell yourself that; it doesn't make it right. While I agree that a supermodel body is not practical or ideal, I don't think it is asking too much for people to eat right and exercise.

I'm sure it is really hard, especially for a celebrity to get a the treadmill for 20 minutes a day and eat a healthy diet. If only she had the resources or the time, but I'm sure on top of full time motherhood, she has to hold down 3 jobs to make ends meet.

I gained a total of 55 pounds during my pregnancy and I was eating a healthy vegetarian diet and not eating any junk food. I didn't have that much of an increased appetitle either. Of course, most of the extra weight (beyond the recommended 25-25 pounds) came on in the last month when I started retaining water big time-- my ankles and feet got huge.
By the time I had come home from the hospital, I had already lost 30 pounds. I lost another 10 over the first 2 months and another 5 pounds slowly the rest of the time. (My baby is now 7 months old.) I still have another 10 pounds to go, but I am still nursing and my body seems to want to hold onto those last pounds. I hardly have time to even eat 2 meals a day, so I wonder if I am even eating enough. It will probably be hard to get to my pre-pregnancy weight until my baby weans.
And by the way, Julia Roberts' twins were born 2 months early, so her body never even got to get that huge in the first place.

I'm not an OB but I think for an average woman, they should gain in the range of 25-35 pounds by the end of their pregnancy. It is hard for me to believe that you really lost 30 pounds by the time you went home from the hospital, but I really don't know the details of your pregnancy, your delivery, or your health so it is possible that you lost that much(especially if a lot of it was "water weight"). With that said, it is not common for women to lose that much so quickly after birth so I don't think we should use your situation as an example of normal weight gain or loss during pregnancy. It may have been normal for you, but abnormal for a majority of pregnant women.

To say that your body will decide how much weight you should gain during pregnancy is a little naive. It sounds like you ate a reasonable diet during your pregnancy and your logic works in your situation, but does not work for someone who was a little more lax with their diet. Using your logic, you could never gain too much weight in pregnancy b/c even if you gained 100 pounds, that must be ok b/c that is where your body wanted your weight. I don't think that’s right.

I was concerned about making sure every calorie I ate counted and provided nutrients for the baby. I knew going into it that a pregnant woman only needs about 250 extra calories a day so I knew I couldn't go overboard. I was really surprised when I started gaining weight steadily as I didn't change my diet too much when I got pregnant: just made sure I ate breakfast everyday, etc. and added a snack (I'm not much of a snacker between meals). Anyway, my weight was right on track until the last month or so when the water weight really came on. I think I gained about 20 pounds alone in the last month!
I really did lose 30 pounds by the time I got home from the hospital. Of course, I had a C-section and complications afterwards and I was in the hospital for a total of 12 days or so. Being hooked up to an IV was a great way to flush out the extra fluids quickly. I joke that was the quickest, but hardest 30 pounds ever lost. I had no appetite the first month or two after my son was born. I am amazed my body was able to produce milk.
My mom had gained around 60 pounds with both her pregnancies and she was a tiny little thing (105 lbs.) but lost all the weight. I remember when she told me that while I was pregnant, I was like no way is that happening to me.
I even exercised regularly through my 2nd trimester, and prenatal yoga in my 3rd trimester. I felt like my scale was possessed, I kept gaining. Most of the heavier women I know or on the message boards tended to gain the least amount of weight, like 20 pounds or so. It really does seem your body knows what to gain. I've even heard women saythey ate with abandon on one pregnancy, but watched their diet like a hawk the second pregnancy, but still gained the same amount of weight.
I am still struggling with these last 10 pounds, but before I got pregnant I had succesfully diet down to my thinnest since college. So I guess that although I am not down to my pre-pregnancy weight yet, I am now at least lower than I have been at my heaviest. I am looking forward to springtime, so I can get out more and take my son on walks. It was hard, once I started to have more energy after he was born, the good weather had gone.
