Growing Pains I think had a different first season theme.

You know, I haven't really ever tried to listen to his line in the newer theme. The one in the old one took me a couple episodes to determine.

It's entirely possible that it's DS9 I'm thinking of and not Voyager. I have the memory of a hamster.

DS9's opening changed when it became a busier station. The theme song's tempo was increased a bit, it sounds a little more exciting. But it's not really a new theme.

Well, it's the same song, but they've...revamped it a little. It was a little faster/harder when they went to 4th grade, then later on (can't remember what season), didn't it get all twangy? It's still pretty much the same song, though.

I agree. The Hank Williams stuff isn't so horrible, it's just that the original opening, along with perhaps Wide World of Sports theme, is one of the most recognizable and best intros in TV history IMO. Occasionally hearing clips of Cosell doing the opening intro over that music still brings chills.

I don't know if this counts, but the Wonder Years changed segments of the song played for its theme song. I can hardly remember..i know in the midseasons they extended the song and I think near the end they just played the 'rockin' part of Joe Cocker's song.

like it started off all quiet and slow int he early years but in later years picked up from the beginning???

But, it was funny when they did a show talking about another show changing it's theme song.

MST3K always had the same tune, but the lyrics changed depending who was on it.

The theme changed a couple of times but all in all the same instrumental with different variations. Up until the near end when Blues Traveler added lyrics and sang an actual theme song.

Still crossing my fingers for a dvd release.

Back on topic, none of the Star Trek themes have changed other than to speed them up a bit.

Also, I just watched the complete UPN Twilight Zone on DVD and did notice a different theme. The only one I remember was the one done by Korn.

Not really much of a change, but I always remember the extended version of The Fresh Prince of Bel Air song. What was the deal with that, it was just used very early on I believe. Guess it was too long...

scrubs had a shortened intro theme for a few eps in season 2.

According to IMDB.com, a different theme was used on the USA Network reruns.The theme,"Try To Shake Me Loose", was performed by Stephanie Mills.

Also, the Billy Joel theme song was sung by the cast, with Tom Hanks on lead.

"I Dream of Jeannie" changed themes after it's first season. The original theme was pretty strange sounding, full of fits & starts. The second theme, the one we all know & recognize, was much better IMO.

The Dick Van Dyke show also kind of changed themes. The first season had a more jazzy theme which would occasionally stop for a bout of synchopated drums (while they'd show "snapshots" of the cast) before they switched to the more familiar theme with the "couch tripping" gag.

I believe That Girl changed its theme in its last season.

Both Family Guy and All in the Family rerecorded their opening songs.

Alice changed the lyrics to its theme song, even though the music was essentially the same.

1st & 2nd Season: Early to rise, early to bed. In and between I cooked and cleaned and went out of my head.

3rd & 4th Season: Used to be sad, used to be shy. Funniest thing, the saddest part is I never knew why...
