Uh...I think Dirk Benedict might be a little bitter, eh? Maybe if they offered him a guest shot like they did Richard Hatch he would be happy.

for your information, if you go to richard hatch's website, he also states that he dislikes the changes of the various character's sex.

Maybe, but I bet that this is his biggest acting check in a while so I'm sure he'll be able to live with the changes.

Does Dirk even want to come back? He's a writer now.

Dirk Benedict's write-up is from last year and is only on the 2003 miniseries. And I think he has a lot of good points about it -- but the TV series has turned out a lot better than the miniseries did, so I wonder if his opinion is still as harsh on the current production.

On the "re-genderized" Starbuck, as much as I like Katee-buck, I still kinda agree with him and miss the old Starbuck (my fav character from the old show) and so I think a loveable rogue character (by any name) would be a nice addition to the current show.

Starbuck: Lost in Castration

This was a piece that Dirk wrote back in May 2004 for "Dreamwatch" magazine. These are his insights on the topic of his "Starbuck" being changed to a female for the new Scifi version.
It seems to be circulating once again on the net, so I am posting it here.
This article, in my opinion, is superb. It has however garnered both praise and criticism.
You decide.

Dirk Benedict, writing in Dreamwatch, May 2004
I happened to watch a Howard Stern show when he was live from a restauraunt in LA. It so happens the waitress was Dirk's ex-wife. According to her he dumped her after BG got big.

The only to Dirks I know. Dirk Benedict and Dirk Diggler.

Isn't "The Hand of God" the same title of the last ep of the original series. The one where Apollo and Starbuck were getting busy with Cassie and whats her name in the observation dome.

I think both Dirk and Richard were pretty bitter BEFORE they saw the new series...Richard's certainly come around since then, and Dirk had only nice things to say on the bonus features of the MiniSeries DVD.

I'm guessing they WILL find a role for Dirk in Season Two...I'm really, really hoping he'll get to play Starbuck's long, lost father (much in the way Fred Astaire played Dirk's in "The Man With Nine Lives"). It would make for a great show.

I think it shares even more in common than just the title. In both: Adama takes the fight to the Cylons by attacking a base rather than running from them.

Correct...and both missions were considered "suicide" missions. The only difference being Starbuck didn't go on this one (he did in the original series).
