Gillian Anderson: Sometimes English?

Did anyone see that doc on Bravo about British theater. In it, Gillian Anderson was talking with a total English accent. In a proper interview. And not as a joke. And for the entire interview.

Sup with that?

She like Madonna.

Not necessarily the same. If she's doing the accent for a role, a lot of actors prefer to stay "in character" even when not filming the movie - it helps them perform better when the movie cameras are on again later.

Gillian Anderson lived in England for awhile when she was growing up. I have often heard that she affects the accent when she is over there, out of habit.

Her permanent residence has been in the UK for a long time now (several years), so it's no surprise that she's picked up the accent.

Now if she'd just start making some movies. And no more of that House of Mirth crap. I'd like to see her in Sideways 2.

Gillian appeared on the Graham Norton show some time ago with a British accent. She explained it away as having grown up in the UK so when she returns, her accent returns as well.
