I loved this episode. This is my second favorite episode right now after "Walkabout".
They finally fleshed out Jin's character from a typical "abusive" foreign husband to a relatively good man with flaws. Excellent job by the writers and Daniel Dae Kim's performance.
I liked the whole thing about Jin being ashamed of his father social status, that he beat up the Secretary in order to save his life and how he truly loves Sun. To the question as to why he said it was too late in regards to Sun and him, I'm guessing is because of Sun's actions of not trusting him.
BTW, my guess is that he also "knows" English. For anybody who tivoed this, go back to the scene with his father and when Sun tells him in English that she was about to leave him. I'm telling you the man also speaks English.
What I liked about this episode was that even though it was about Jin and Sun, they also advanced the story with Sayid, Shannon, Walt and Locke. My guess was that Locke burned the raft and was surprised when it ended up being Walt.
In regards to Hurley being on Korean TV, we'll probably find out next week in his flashback why he was on it.
Son of bitch!

I also got a weather crawl during subtitles. My scene was when Jin was asking Sun's father for her hand. So Jin was really going to get out of that life to save his marriage, and then he got LOST.
And John Locke has more asskickinger every episode.

Here's a bit of crazy speculation about this episode: Walt said he wasn't allowed outside the caves after dark, and the raft was burned down on the beach after dark. Does that mean Walt used his magic powers to burn the raft down? Yeah, obviously he could've snuck out, but it's still interesting that the writers threw that little curfew bit in there

There were 2 really nice shots in this episode:
After the big reveal that Sun knows English, the crowd disperse, and the last bit shows Sun just standing there on the beach in a long shot, and then you see Jin walking out of the shot, visually showing the emotional distance between them ever increasing after the revelation.
The other was the simple shot of Sun on the beach, bundled up with Jin's jacket, and then she lets the jacket go, the wind blows it away from her, and she walks into the ocean, with the look of surprised joy from the cold splash by the ocean over her legs, and it visually shows her accepting her new life, embracing the elements, and time will tell if she and Jin will find their way back to one another.

Let the actors do the acting and make a scene intense, don't wiggle the camera to try and create a sense of urgency.

I was beginning to wonder when Hurley's batteries where going to run out.
Jin doesn't know English. he grew up the son of a fisherman and fell in love with a rich girl. he was a waiter a dinner party. he was trying to get ahead in life and got a job at Sun's father job.
Sun and Jin stopped relating. Sun wanted out and to get away. Jin was an ass. Jin wanted out and realized he was loosing her.
oh well...
another great episode. about relationships...ending, starting over.
now who is on the other side of the rope bridge?? people from the black rock?

I can't believe Stephen King in that USA Today article, talking about how the show is moving at a slow pace and has lost his interest. This from a guy who could spend 300 pages describing a postage stamp.
