Best Halftime show since U2!!!! The only thing I would have preffered would be if Ringo Starr had been the drummer!!!! I would have asked at least.
People I would love to see do a halftime show next year:
1) Josh Groban- Great talent
2) Micheal Bubble- Awesome
3) Matt Dusk- His music is from the show Casino
4) Norah Jones- Another great talent
5) Alicia Keys-Yes, I know she was there, but as part of the half time show.
Personally I hope next year they do a "Throwback" concert with alot of the new singers today who remind people of the Rat Pack from the 40's and 50's. Micheal Buble, Matt Dusk, Peter Cincotti, Harry Connick Jr. Maybe get some Herbie Hancock in there.....That would be awesome.
NO MORE RAP CRAP!!!!

On the scale of Beatle fandom, I'm definitely a "Paul guy," so I was happy.

Alicia Keys kicked ass. That was a great outfit as well.

33 and I agree. I usually don't watch the halftime shows. Now I know why.

Well I'm just saying that none of my friends like the Beatles and I'm 25. When all the songs he played are only on classic rock and oldies stations then yes I would say only 45 year olds would enjoy it. I hate all that MTV garbage too so I guess I'm screwed when it comes to half time shows.

You guys misunderstood me - I meant that I tought Paul put on a pretty good show (good songs, tight band, professional all the way) - So, do I feel this way because at 33, I'm now old and out of touch?

I'm 30 and watched with other 30 somethings, male and female.
We found the halftime show to be a bit boring. We hate rap as well, and never really feel like the halftime show lives up to the hype. Aerosmith and U2 were good, Shania Twain and Janet Jackson were awful, in my opinion. The music is just not timely, it's more like a soundtrack from the past that has nothing to do with the vibe of the game.
I admire Paul McCartney and although I'm not a huge fan, I like many of his songs. But, I felt the first 2 songs were totally irrelevant and dated (didn't even recognize "Drive my car" until the chorus and don't like "Get Back" one bit.) The last 2 songs were upbeat and fun, but that was it. My favorite part of "Hey Jude" is the run and instead of hearing Paul, we heard "NaNaNaNa's" from the crowd. I hated the cards being displayed with the lyrics, honestly expected "make love, not war" or something more spiritual from the former Beatle. The fireworks were timed well and it looked awesome in HD, but I agree that for many of us under 40, this was in no way the best halftime ever. Enjoyable, and maybe more on the right track, but not memorable. Then again, NSync and NKOTB couldn't have been tolerable for those over 20, so maybe eventually we'll all get a turn!
Maybe we need a "Who should perform at Halftime?" post similar to the "SNL" thread? It might be interesting to see where everyone is coming from!

^^ It's a new thing. The crowd could see it too. Dixie Chicks did something similar on their last tour. don't flame, went with the wife.
Plus on close ups you could see the individual screens. At least on HD you could.

Not great, but much better than the usual fare. I'm 24 and love The Beatles; I'm not really a fan of Paul's newer music so the song selection was allright by me.

I'm 22 and disliked it as i posted earlier. The problem with the Super Bowl half time show is that there is such a wide audience that every year you're going to have a large group of people that dislike the musical artist. I suppose that's why they've tried to include multiple artists previously to appeal to fans who enjoy differennt styles of music. The earlier comment about age is a generalization, but i'd venture most older viewers did enjoy the performance much more then younger viewers. I'd be bored with most of the names mentioned by Dalvin earlier, outside of Alicia Keys.

Did anyone else who watched this on surround sound feel that the mix was somewhat anemic? I didn't have the HD feed, but in the past the half time shows (U2, Aerosmith, Shania, Janet) have all sounded great, but this one sounded like mono with like no crowd activity mixed in.
The actual performance was a bit boring. I was expecting something a little more lively after I read the producer commenting how this would be the biggest and most complex half time show ever, but it was just a retread of this own show from when Michael Jackson did it like 10 years ago (audience holds up signs and sings).
Here's who I'd like to see in the future:
Madonna (the NFL has tried multiple times to land her)
Elton John/Billy Joel
U2 (still the best halftime ever)
Rolling Stones
Dave Matthews Band

I love Paul McCartney and I thought he did a fine job, but... All I could think of is how they choose the "safe" choice. I don't want to see Ashley Simpson lip synch or whip out a tittie, but give us someone that is relevant right now like Green Day. Network tv stinks.
