There are plenty of others I'd love to see, like Elton John or Springsteen, but people under 40 are supposed to hate geezer acts like them, right? I hate that type of narrow-minded view of things. To me music, like film or any type of art, is either good or bad, and whether it's old or new really makes no difference. I'm all for giving credit to new stuff that's original and exciting. I've just seen very little of it in recent years. So much of what comes out now seems derivative or deadly dull. I love exploring things that came before me and I always will, but to each his own I guess.
Agreed. My son knows more about groups like The Who and Led Zeppelin than I do. Go to a music forum and see how many 18 year old kids are into the Floyd. Ask some 14 year old guitarist what's on his MP3 player and he'll talk about Django Reinhardt. The same goes the other way. I'm always pulling new music off of the Internet. I'm always amazed at the talent that is out there.

Sure the music from your formative years leave a special imprint on you. But who said your formative years need to end?

Limiting yourself does just that.

While I thought Sir Paul was good, he has been a lot better. The energy levels just didn't seem to be there. Being a fan, I'd love to see him live, but I don't want to see him sing like he is just going through the numbers either.

I think it's the same with any big group from the past. If they are touring the sound is different than them playing a big 'corporate' event like the Superbowl.

As for future Superbowls, the one act I'd like to see would be Tori Amos, although I don't think the promoters would take a chance on her.

I am 39. Enjoyed the Paul and his music.

Heck, I like even like more older stuff.
They should give Andy Williams a halftime shot.
He still has a great singing voice.

A band that would knock the everlovin' socks off of everyone for the SB halftime show would be Los Lonely Boys. Their singles have been their more mellow songs and I think some probably mistake them for some little latin style pop act but they are the most talented rock and rollers to come out in a long time and are unbelievable live. Great musicians and singers, heck the bass player(plays a 6 string bass and uses all 6) is a better guitar player than 95% of guitarists out there. They play each others instruments, play guitars behind their back while moon-walking sideways and will play the guitar and bass one-handed. Most who go to their shows for the first time and didn't know what to expect leave with their jaws dropped to the floor.

His name is Abe Laboriel Jr. He is the son of jazz bassist Abraham Laboriel and one bad ass drummer. His presence was just as impressive the couple of times I saw McCartney on tour. You can feel his power throughout an entire arena.
