Lost 01/05/05

"Whatever the Case May Be"

Spoiler:
Jack, Kate and Sawyer fight over possession of a newly discovered locked metal briefcase which might contain insights into Kate's mysterious past. Meanwhile, Sayid asks a reluctant Shannon to translate notes he took from the French woman, a rising tide threatens to engulf the fuselage and the entire beach encampment, and Rose and a grieving Charlie tentatively bond over Claire's baffling disappearance.

I believe that that is the first time that the "spoilerized" episode synopsis was actually a spoiler. I didn't know what that metal thing in the ground was. Damnit.

I still don't think we know what it is. I doubt that
Spoiler:
Kate's suitcase
was what was found in the last episode. It was quite a way from the wreckage, and buried underground, wasn't it?

You're assuming that the thing in the ground and the briefcase are the same...personally, I doubt it, I think whatever was/is in the ground is probably bigger than a briefcase. My bet is they just find the briefcase in some other crash debris they hadn't gone through yet.

In any event - I'm just stoked that there's a new Lost on tomorrow and the previous rumors of no new episodes until February DID turn out to be rumors!

Oh I realize that. And I wasn't implying that I thought this was planned. Although, we don't know where this island is.

It just struck me as an odd occurence that this episode happened now.

That's what I figured as well, that the "thing in the ground" (what Locke and Boone are digging at) and said briefcase are different things. Whatever it was that the two of them hit, it sounded much bigger than a briefcase.

I'm almost positive that the promo ads for this episode include a shot of the briefcase under water....which is where someone apparently finds it.

Ian Somerhalder (Boone) was on the radio this morning, and revealed a few things. They're pretty vague, but I'll tag them as spoilers anyway.
Spoiler:
Next week, we get to see Boone and Shannon's backstory, and we also find out what the metal thing Boone and Locke found is. Unfortunately it doesn't seem that it'll be resolved this week.

Interesting article about Hurley and the actor who plays him, Jorge Garcia.

I don't think it has any spoilers but tread at your own risk.
