Is 24 only a "guy's" show?
Hey all---
I just bought season 3 of 24 on DVD which is my favorite show I might add, and I ran into a "friend" of mine at checkout who saw the box and said "That show is nothing but guns, bombs, car chases etc and has no drama" This coupled with the fact that I saw mostly guys buying this at Best Buy when I was there makes me wonder Is 24 a guy show? What do you all think? Especially the ladies

Building from a comment in another thread, 24 is essentially a soap opera with lots of shooting and yelling (unless you're at CTU ... then you suspiciously whisper), so it should appeal to both men and women.

Don't you know? Women can watch shows with a male lead; it is only men who can't watch shows with female leads because they are dismissed as a "chick show".
See: Gilmore Girls.

I love 24 (though the last season was a bit weak) but being the sci-fi loving ESPN watching woman I am, I don't know if I embody the typical "female" demographic.

No it's not. In general i don't believe in "guilty Pleasures" or in this case men or women shows. If i like a show i watch it. Alias, the Sopranos, Lost, Desparate Houswives, Arrested Development, Gilmore Girls, The Shield, and 24 are the shows i watch.

Most definitely a show for both genders. I love 24. And Alias. And Lost. And Desperate Housewives. And Gilmore Girls. I could keep going, but I'll spare you. My point is that like these other shows, there are elements that appeal to both genders - comedy, drama, action, adventure, what have you. Well, not much comedy in 24, but the other three adjectives apply.
I'm a woman, by the way, in case my user id isn't clear.
I should probably also say that I love action and sci fi shows/movies as much as period films/dramas/romantic comedies. I'm also not your typical girl, but that's a good thing, imo. Don't like sports though, except going to live baseball games. Lucky for me my boyfriend isn't a typical guy.

Ug, why do people always have to classify a certain show or movie as a "chick flick" or a "guy movie"? Liking a TV show or movie has a lot more to do with personality than gender. To answer the question, I guess I'm another one of those untypical girls that likes 24 and sci-fi/fantasy TV shows and movies. My boyfriend and I look forward to the new season of 24 equally, but I am a bigger geek than he is!
