2004 Holiday TV Schedule

I thought I'd put together a comprehensive guide to holiday shows on TV. I'm getting these from different sources, so the exact times are not accurate. These will most likely be in Pacific or Mountain times. Check your local listings for your times. I’ve listed shows after midnight with the night before, to avoid confusion. The new day’s listings will begin with 6am. If you know of a show not on my list, post it here, and I'll edit this message to keep them all on one list.

Thanks. A shame that most of the good stuff is on cable networks.

- I can understand the Family Channel playing specials now - the 25 Days of Christmas has been their gimmick for several years, but what's with CBS & ABC both showing Christmas specials on the FIRST of the month?! That's way too early.

- How come no one ever plays Ziggy's Gift anymore?

- I'd like to point folks to The Town That Santa Forgot. It looks like Cartoon Network is only showing it once this year: 8am on Christmas Eve. It's about a spoiled brat named Jeremy Creek who asks for so many presents that Santa thinks "Jeremy Creek" must be the name of a town, not a boy. The whole thing is done in rhyme & narrated by Dick Van Dyke. I think it's a real underrated gem.

Thanks for the info. I did update the list. And yes, these times are not going to be accurate for everyone. I checked my local listings, and the Cartoon Network times are 1 hour off for me. So this will give you an idea of when your favorite show is on, but you'll need to check your local paper, or tvguide.com, or excite.com to see when they're playing for you.

Keep the info coming, and I'll update the list!

Those two used to give me the creeps as a kid...especially Heat Miser. Love the songs now.

Excellent, thanks for the list, Rob! One made for TV movie I would like to see if you might add to the list is "A Town Without Christmas" which is next showing on LIFETIME channel at 7:00PM Eastern on 12/15/04. This stars Patricia Heaton with Peter Falk appearing in it too. ZAP2IT.com lists the blurb as "A television reporter and an aspiring writer join the search for a missing boy who wrote a disturbing letter to Santa Claus."

You have this already listed, but the "Borrowed Hearts movie at 8:00pm on ABC Family 12/09/04 really is an above average TV Christmas movie in my opinion. It stars Roma Downey and Eric McCormack and the blurb is "A man asks a single employee and her daughter to pose as his family so that he can win a lucrative deal."

Bump. Tonight(12/07/04 Tuesday) is "A Charlie Brown Christmas"! Probably most of us have this on tape/dvd but this is interesting-

"The hour will also include a series of never-before-seen Christmas-themed animated stories entitled Charlie Brown Christmas Tales, based on Schulz's work, in which each of the beloved PEANUTS characters — Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Linus, Lucy and Sally — will star in his or her own charming animated vignette."

That's not on tonight in the Phoenix area. Instead, our ABC is showing some special from the "Sonoran Chef". We have Charlie Brown scheduled for Thursday night, 12/16. Not sure if that's just for us, since we're missing it tonight, or a rerun for everyone. I'm assuming it's Phoenix only.

Hmm. I could've sworn they showed the same special last year following the traditional A Charlie Brown Christmas.

This Thursday on TBS, they're having a 2 hour marathon of Seinfeld episodes dealing with Festivus from 9-11PM.

Thanks for the list.

I think tonight I'm going to check out the 'Christmas Special' Christmas Special on Bravo (for some reason I thought about a coffee table book about coffee table books when I saw the promo).

Cartoon Network also has The Venture Brothers - A Very Venture Christmas which premieres Sunday Dec 19th at 11:45 PM, repeat at 2:45 AM. Shorter than other episodes but I'm looking forward to it.

Does anyone know if "Mickey's Magical Christmas: Snowed in at the House of Mouse (Toon Disney)" listed above for Friday 12/17/04 will have the "Mickey's Christmas Carol" segment? This show will broadcast in my time zone from 6:35pm - 8:00pm on that day so I'm hoping it will be long enough to include the Christmas Carol. Thanks in advance for any help.

Cartoon Network changed their schedule since I posted this. So I need to go through and change all the Cartoon Network shows.

Nice post, lot of work in there.
Currently I just browse my DVR's EPG for stuff that 'looks good', which is a pain in the arse.

Anyone catch the Powerpuff Girls Christmas episode last year? Is this the one where Santa's Naughty and Nice lists are a target?

IIRC, one of the only 2 or so names on the Naughty list was A. Schickelgruber. That got a chuckle from me. Definitely a bit of adult-oriented 'humor'.

And as much as I have enjoyed A Christmas Story, is anyone else sick of seeing that 74 times a day, Christmas Day, on TBS?

Nope. I watch bits of the movie here and there throughout the day, so when you add it up I pretty much just watch it once all the way through.
