There's a tiger in the woods? I guess it makes as much sense as the polar bear.

Hey! It's David Fury, not Joss Whedon! We're not doing Aliens 4 here.

My suspicion was that Hurley = Alex, but some of you guys have good points about why it probably isn't. I'm still suspicious of Hurley though. We haven't seen anything that shows he was on the plane. I think he's the only main character that this is true of. Everyone else has either been shown on the plane, on the mainland, or to at least have luggage on the plane, right?

Yep, it's going to be a long two weeks of speculation around here.

What if a crate of pressure-sealed sony discmen washed ashore 9 years ago along with a collection of CDs, some dauracels and a volleyball that he named Wilson. ;)

I gotta love this weekly thread.

Just when I think that it can't get any weirder and strange, people prove me wrong...

Big Boy Laroux 11-19-04 12:12 PM

maybe that's why he ignored Sayid when he said to not use batteries. he was so enamored of the discman, he had to use it.

Thats correct, we haven't yet had any evidence that he was on the plane at all. In fact, in the leaked version of the pilot episode, Hurley had this interesting line:

::Jack sees inept lifeguard, then turns toward camera::
Jack: Hey, you, come here!
::Hurley turns around::
Hurley: Plane crash!
Jack: Yeah, I know. I need you to get this woman away from these fumes. Take her over there. Stay with her. If her contractions occur any closer than three minutes apart call out for me.
Hurley: Oh you gotta be kidding me....

In the aired version, it was changed to:

::Jack sees inept lifeguard, then turns toward camera::
Jack: Hey, you!
::Hurley turns around::
Jack: Come here! I need you to get this woman away from these fumes. Take her over there. Stay with her. If her contractions occur any closer than three minutes apart call out for me.
Hurley: Oh you gotta be kidding me....

No way Hurley is Alex, unless he was very fast (and extremely lucky) to loot through the luggage to find clothes that would fit him.

Big Boy Laroux 11-19-04 12:50 PM

and he has definitely changed clothes. at least shirts.

guys, alex is obviously Alexandra, who we will find out is the pregnant girl. and she is caring the monster's baby.

she was walking along the beach when the plane crashed near her.

cliffzig 11-19-04 01:20 PM

What the hell, I can't see any of the pictures.

squidget 11-19-04 01:20 PM

I don't think Hurley is Alex. And according to TVtome this is what awaits us in the next episode:
Spoiler:

Raised by Another
Claire has a horrible nightmare about her new baby being harmed or kidnapped which she believes is real. Flashbacks reveal Claire's backstory of the former boyfriend that got her pregnant and abandoned her and the psychic who convinced her to take the ill-fated flight that lands her on the island. Lastly, Hurley is shocked and confused when he discovers that Ethan, another plane crash survivor, does not appear on the flight manifest.
Isn't Ethan the rash guy?

Tommy Ceez 11-19-04 01:31 PM

Are we actually speculating that a French woman had a child on a deserted island for 16 years, and the child turned out to be 400 pounds and says Dude after everything?!?

BTW...wouldnt Hurly have gotten them water when they were dying of dehydration if he lived on the island for 16 years?!?

Big Boy Laroux 11-19-04 02:34 PM

In response to the spoiler above:

Spoiler:
I think Ethan was the guy with Locke. The other Hunter

Yes!

This thread cracks me up.

But seriously, I agree with the recent spoilers above.

You have schooled me.

I shall now go into the corner.

I think lost is actually not a TV show, but a scientific experiment to see how insane people on the internet are.

Its worked.

movieking 11-21-04 06:45 AM

The theories on this board are becoming more entertaining than the show! (well, not really, but anyway....)

Tazwolff 11-21-04 07:35 AM

It was the DOG!! Think about it, have we seen him in the last few eps? Where is he and just what is that little sly mofo doing?

I think we will see or learn more of Alex in the next ep, possibly the source of whomever is buggin’ Miss Prego. I don’t think he has been assimilated into the group, yet. As for the sickness, I think she was referring to people like Locke that somehow become “in tune” with this place they’re at. Then again, I don’t know Jack so I’m gonna wait for the next episode.

smoke67 11-21-04 01:23 PM

Did any of you notice that the French Lady said "Alex was my child", not 'Alex is my child'?
