Average episode last night and who knew that there is morse code among the turntable DJ crowd?

One thing about Sinise that is nagging at me though. He signs on as the lead of this 3rd CSI franchise under one condition: his character (Mac) be more character-driven than the other two. However, among the handfull of episodes that we have seen thus far, he is the most one-dimensional character across all the CSI leads.

Well I missed the epsiode since my TiVo thought it was a repeat, seeing as it thought the CSI Rerun last week counted as the new CSI:NY, oh well.... maybe next time.

And as for the one-dimensionality of the Mac Taylor, Sinese wanted a more character driven storyline, but the after he signed on the studio reneged that part of the clause. They talk about it in last weeks EW article ("Grime of the Century").

I didn't think it was very good.

Sinise and Kanakaredes got the push as the stars of the show but their characters are both boring so far. Danny and Aidan are much more intersting.

This was actually the episode I liked the most from the season so far, and that's not saying a lot really.

Master P sure put on some weight

Interesting...I'll be sure to read that.

Sorry, the title of the article was 'Crime Of His Life' (#790, pp 30-31).

From the article:

But several episodes in, Zuiker had to renege on one of the crucial selling points, informing Sinese that CBS was far less interested in character development than in mystery solving. Unlike his colleagues over at CSI who make a drama out of oversleeping, Sinese was nothing but gracious. "I think in my subconscious I knew," he says. "You can't suddenly throw a brand-new version of CSI out there and hope it flies. You have to rely on the blue print that makes those other two shows work, which is one of the reasons I decided to do it in the first place. It was walking into a known commodity."

The problem with both Miami and NY is that they haven't followed the blue print that made the original work. They're both generic cop shows with a slightly emphasis on the forensis side. The characters have none of the quirky geekiness that make the original cast tick.

I go back to something I said a couple weeks ago: The thing that makes LV work (for me) is that I feel like the characters (and the cast too for that matter) go out for drinks after work. But I just don't feel that from the Miami and NY casts so far. I'd like to see NY to go off the air and when Peterson leaves the show for Sinise's character to move to Vegas. Never happen, but it would be nice.

Or cancel NY, move Sinise to Miami, fire everyone else but Emily Proctor, the new guy and the guy who plays the bald detective and then recast the show from there.

This show was on this week? I recorded it on TiVo, but when I went to watch it there was a voiceover saying it wasn't on this week and they went on to air repeat CSI episode. Did CBS not do this in every market?
