Where minorities are constantly fighting over valuables? I think not. The Caves are the only sensible choice this year. The bee problem has been handled, and there's plenty more luggage to look through. We'll find more than what's waiting for you on the Beach...which is sand and undrinkable water. i missed this episode, does anyone know if they will air it again, thanks

Originally posted by rfduncan Okay again this thread has splintered off into "what's going to happen next" land. I have a comment about WHAT HAPPENED. Did anyone suspect the Sun's father is actually part of the Korean mafia? There was only one hint about it when Jin came home bloody, but Sun's desire to "escape" in such a deviously desperate and covert manner leads one to ponder how deeply entrenched in "the family" Jin was. Originally posted by rfduncan Also why they were on a plane from Syndey to America still doesn't make much sense. Why were they headed there without being able to speak English? Why would Sun go through all the effort to coordinate an airport terminal escape when she could have easily make an exit at some point during their stay in America? Finally, I guess only English speakers can go on vaction to places where they don't speak a lick of the language... |
Both Jackskeleton and darthlurker, if that are their real names, are leading you all in the wrong direction. My, er, THE island is a big place, with vast lands on gumdrop trees and lickable wallpaper not unlike those seen in the popular movie Willy Wonka! Also, there are parts of the island with not just plain old "normal" water, but instead Gatorade Propel! In five different flavors! If that isn't enough for you, Quentin Tarentino, William H Macy, and Kevin Smith will join your party and discuss films with YOU! All this and all the transport you can handle as we TOUR THE ISLAND BABY!!

Originally posted by Jackskeleton The beach has done wonders for us so far. The level of terrorist threats from wild boar have been down and immigrants are not a threat anymore with the use of handcuffs. The Caves want you to believe that they are safer. Looking at their record, they held dead bodies. Can it really be trusted? It wants you to believe that it can save you but with it's record of bee stings and thrown around luggage can you really believe it's with all its flip flop? Vote Beach 2004 |
Originally posted by Tandem I've got it! They will split into two tribes. The beach dwellers will be known as the Eloi. They will lie around on the beach all day and build fires at night to protect themselves from the evil Morlock tribe. The cave dwellers or Morlocks will toil at rebuilding society as they remember it by constructing crude machinery in their underground caverns. They will become over-sensitive to the sunlight and only be able to come out of their dark caves at night at which time they will prey on the defenseless Eloi. Just letting you know that at least one person got your joke. |

Might I also add that if we explore enough caves, we might eventually find pylons? And how, exactly, are the beach dwellers going to ward off the Sleestaks?
Also, who thinks Locke is going to die before he reveals whatever it is he saw to the other survivors? |
ok, i want to figure out what happened in this episode with respect to Sun.
Did she and her husband run away from her fathers business to start a new life? Or, did she try to run away and was caught by her husband? Or, did she pass on the chance and later in life (before this flight) saw that it was 11:15 and it reminded her of her missed chance? Or, did she wish she was on a island that granted wishes and had polar bears and it came true? next week episode isnt going to be on here because of a basketball game. sucko! |
Originally posted by Verbal Gorilla I The only reason I can see is that based on her father's business, she probably had 24/7 security in Korea. This idea is strenghten by the line, "They'll assumes you were kidnapped". |

Where was the hot blonde chick this episode?

I was under the impression they were only rerunning them during the World Series. Now that it's over...they may stop this practice (I hope not, since it's a great way to catch up if you miss it). So be warned.

Jin and Sun were going from Korea to L.A. We don't know why, and it's probably not important. Sun was going to take the opportunity to run away. She hooked up with a group that would help her escape, took some classes to learn English, and met with her contact, who disguised herself as Sun's interior decorator. The plan was for Sun to make a break for it at the Sydney Airport at 11:15. But Sun chickened out when the time came, in part due to her memories of what a nice guy Jin had been when he was just a waiter. So she and Jin got on the plane to L.A. and wound up on the Island of Magical Wishing Robot Dinosaur Polar Bears. The airport announcement about the flight to Singapore was just an airport announcement. Jack had just finished at the ticket counter and Jin and Sun were still waiting in line; the fact that Oceania Airlines had a flight to Singapore preparing for departure had nothing to do with their flight to Los Angeles. |

Thanks for the recap JasonF. i just wasnt sure what went on between the interior decorator scene and the airport scene.
I bet the call for the flight to singapore was for the polar bears and t-rex, thats why their plane crashed on the other side of the island and why their pissed. |
Originally posted by LorenzoL Can anybody give me a recap of next week episode in the spoiler tags based on the promo? Here in Canada, they did not show the promo for next week since they were advertising a new time on Monday at 8pm. Made it sound like they were going to be repeats but I'm not 100% sure. Spoiler:

Excellent recap on Jin and Sun, JasonF. Thanks.

My initial suspicions of the Korean couple was that they got together through an arranged marriage.
However after watching this episode, I was shocked to see that they were actually in love with each other when they met. Being that Jin was of a lower social status than Sun, he basically sold his "soul" to the devil (in a way) in order to get together with her. In Korean society, social status and standing is very relevant still in order to get the consent of the parents for the union. They don't look too kindly of a person with lower social status (especially if it's a guy) to ask permission for marriage. |
