Forget that, get the TV first, then find a house to suit the TV.

Nothing wrong with a 20" HD set... as long as it is a secondary tv in a room other than the main living area.

I've had it for about a year and a half through cable. At first it was just HBO and Showtime. They have since added ABC, NBC, PBS, WB, FOX, ESPN, Starz, Cinemax, Discovery, INHD, and the NFL Network. I'm still waiting on CBS and a DVR cable box, but otherwise they're doing pretty good out here.

Equipment wise I have an Infocus X1 projector (only actually does 480P but size matters!) and a Dvico Fusion3QAM card so I can use a computer monitor. It only works for over the air and non-encrypted channels on cable.

Just got my monthly statement in and the total was $105.42 for the month. The only that sucks about Voom is that if you want to hook up more than one TV you pay $9.95 a receiver & $5 connection fee. So if you want to pay for just one receiver, you can knock $15 off that bill.

To be honest, I was paying around $85 to $90 a month for Charter's shitty HD service & all the pay channels so choosing to pay $15 more a month for a plethora of HD was a non-issue. I hardly watch anything that isn't in HD anymore.

They now have a special knocking $150 off the install fee which makes the install $50. Looking at my channel list...I think it's worth the 50 buck install.

B.S. You can see a huge difference in even a smaller HDTV. Buy the size you need and enjoy. Any HD looks better than the best standard picture no matter the size.

Yes, I have a Zenith 4:3 HDTV and love it. I was working at BestBuy at the time (extra Holiday money) and bought the TV for $840.00, about $159.00 off the sicker price.

Would love to have a bigger WS HDTV, but cannot afford the higher ticket price.

I have comcast and thier dual tuner DVR/HD box the but I only get a handfull of channels.

CBS, becuase of this most show I now watch are on this channel

Yes.

I must use Comcast Cable now, moved to another state and behind a hill which blocks the signal. The Comcast video quality is not as good as the over the air. Bummer I have to pay for lower quality.

Big front page piece in today's Bergen (NJ) Record about Verizon bringing fiber in; yeah, we've known about that for a long while now. Included in the article is how they need to get you to buy more than internet service for it to be cost effective. One of many ways they plan to do this: "Verizon is keeping mum about most of its TV offerings except to promise it will deliver vast amounts of high-definition content."

Yep, have had a 27'' Samsung HDTV for four years now I think. I got it mostly for DVDs and videogames, and I've yet to jump on a HDTV receiver from Comcast. I'd love to get a widescreen HDTV, but that won't happen until I graduate from college.

Yeah we have the dual tuner Motorola 6412 box from comcast as well.
In our area they offer us a few more HD channels though. We got:

That probably covers 90% of our viewing. I'd like to have FX for when The Shield and Rescue Me start up again though.

I have a 27" 4:3 TV, but my cable box is also an HDTV receiver, so I'm able to view channels in HD.
I just get the basic HD channels at no extra charge.

I have Sony 34xbr800 with their HD200 DirecTV/Ota receiver.

I get OTA - ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox and PBS. NBC is the best. CBS is halfway decent. ABC sucks the most. Its has four sub-channels with ABC has the main lead channel with Fox, UPN and weather radar making-up the other three. Also, they do not do any HD becase their bust ass transmitter.

None of them do 5.1 sound.

I get DirecTV HD pagkage with ESPNHD, Universal HD, Discovery HD, HDN Movies, HDN and HP PPV.

Recently bought a Sony 42" Grand Wega. It has a HD tuner built in so I can get HD direct from the cable without the need for a box: FOX, CBS, ABC, NBC, WB, INHD, INHD2, ESPNHD, CSNHD, HBOHD, and DISCHD. I do plan on getting the HD-DVR from Comcast but just haven't gotten around to it yet.

In addition to the DC locals, I can also get great receptions of the Baltimore network HD affiliates OTA. Getting the Baltimore CBS and FOX affiliates will be of great use to a directionally challenged person such as myself come football season. More options.

OTA I get zip, on Cable I get CBS + about 10 non major network stations like Discovery, etc

I will be via Adelphia starting March 6th. They sent out a letter I got today stating the channels we'll receive. Too bad they're changing literately 50 channels (the number)

The order makes no sense whatsoever either. It'll take me forever to learn the changes.

I have 27" tvs in my living room and bedroom and my daughter has a 13". No HD yet, but I do have a HD-DVR box so I guess I'm halfway there...?

I have had HD since the big super bowl fiasco with Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson. That did look great in HD.

Check eBay for activated (very important) Voom HD receivers. They're going for $50-$100 shipped right now and are an easy/cheap way to get HD.


Side note: Although I have DirecTV with an HD TiVo, I also have a standalone TiVo hooked up to my antenna for a third tuner option. The picture was just OK. I picked up one of these Voom receivers and set the output to 480i. Not only an incredible increase in picture reception and quality, but all the HD programs are recorded in squished (for lack of a better word) 16:9 that my TV switches back to correct aspect ratio widescreen (without the bars). A nice bonus.

BUT... my Comcast DVR box unlocked all the HD channels for me. Though I have a standard TV, these channels are letterboxed widescreen and look MUCH better than the normal ones.
