Too late to get into Lost?
I haven't been able to see an episode yet and am curious if this is something that can be picked up at this point.

Just go to Television Without Pity and read the recaps of the episodes you've missed.

They do a little bit of recap at the beginning of the episodes from what I recall. you can always find other means to catch up on the older episodes as they float around on torrent sites.
but it's still very early on and I'm sure you can catch up easy.

I've really come to hate Television Without Pity. Their recaps are waaaayyy too long and most of their contributors strike me as failed writers that are trying too hard to be witty. It's annoying wading through all that snarky, aren't I clever/ironic BS.
Reading through the threads here, you'll find some people who've done quick recaps of the information that's pertinent.
Or, I've also emailed you some more details on what our friend Jack touched upon.

I would agree that it's not too late. The basic premise of the show is obvious and basically they've gone into some background stuff of the characters and found out a little bit about the island. While helpful, I'm not sure you would even have to know what exactly happened to appreciate the show. And as stated, you can easily read what happened.

Not too late. Writers are going out of their way to make sure new viewers know who people are and stay somewhat caught up. I'm putting summaries below in spoilers because even though they've aired, it's clear that you haven't seen them.

Thanks for the nice recaps Static. I have seen all the episodes and I missed the part that Boone and Shannon are brother-sister. It makes more sense to me now why they always fight. I thought they were married/dating.

No, it's not too late, but it's getting close. This show is so popular though it shouldn't be hard to, erm, acquire the episodes you've missed. It's worth it to make the effort.

P.S. I too can't stand TWOP.

I appreciate the feedback.
I would definitely try to view them but dial-up pretty much eliminates the option for me. I think I will just try to pick it up cold and if it grabs me then I will stick with it and possibly read more about the past shows. If not, then I guess I will just write the show off and perhaps catch reruns at some point.

TWOP was a lot easier to take back when it was Mighty Big TV. The recaps were funny without all of them trying out for the snark school of journalism.
The forums were also a lot easier to handle back then when every kiddo with no cultural knowledge before 1993 wasn't posting that references to Samuel Beckett were a shout out to Quantum Leap fans. (An actual example I saw once.)

That would have been funnier had you just made it up, but it was still damn funny.

I asked a similar question a couple of weeks ago, when I just missed ep 1 and 2. Well, I'm on dialup, and don't want to miss the excitement by just reading a recap, so...... I'm going to go cold turkey and just wait for the DVD release.

For those wanting to start watching Lost with the very first show- buried in this fluff piece about Jack vs. Sawyer is the mention that "ABC is re-airing the two-hour pilot on Wednesday, Dec. 15."
