'Lost' Helps ABC Find Wednesday Win
(Thursday, October 14 08:19 AM)
LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) Fast National ratings for Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2004
With live baseball coverage on FOX and the final presidential debate on the Big Three networks, a true picture of Wednesday night's ratings won't emerge until final nationals are released. The early data show, however, that ABC may take the night.
Fueled by "Lost," ABC led in the fast nationals with an 8.9 rating/13 share. FOX came in second with an 8.4/13, followed by NBC at 7.2/11. CBS was fourth at 6.2/9. UPN, 3.0/4, edged The WB, 2.8/4, in the race for fifth.
ABC also led among adults 18-49 with a 5.0 rating. FOX was right behind at 4.9. NBC averaged 3.8, CBS 2.7, UPN 2.0 and The WB 1.8.
"Lost," 10.6/16, easily won the 8 p.m. hour for ABC. FOX's coverage of baseball's league championship series posted an 8.1/12 for the hour. CBS got a 6.1/9 from "60 Minutes," beating out a "Law & Order" rerun on NBC. "Smallville," 3.5/5, finished fifth for The WB, narrowly beating "America's Next Top Model" on UPN.
In a tightly bunched field at 9 p.m., ABC held a slight lead with the 8.6/12 it drew for its debate coverage. FOX was second with baseball, 8.5/12. The debate averaged 8.2/11 for NBC and 6.6/10 for CBS. UPN aired a repeat of "Kevin Hill" as some affiliates pre-empted it for the debate, but it was still good enough to beat "The Mountain" on The WB.
FOX took the lead at 10 p.m., with its baseball broadcasts scoring an 8.6/14. NBC's debate wrapup came in at 7.8/12, beating ABC's 7.6/12 and CBS' 6.0/9.

I dunno, just a wild thought I had...

I think that the writers/producers/whoever are full of shit. I really think that when everything is revealed, it will go against what one of them have said already.

Thanks.

Walkabout
gs: L. Scott Caldwell (Rose)
Survivors are jolted awake in the middle of the night when wild island beasts invade the beach encampment. Kate and Michael join the mysterious Locke on a hunt for food -- and a shocking secret about Locke is revealed. Meanwhile, some survivors are horrified by Jack's plan for the dead bodies still scattered among the wreckage, and Jack sees someone in the jungle who might not have been on the plane.

I put this in the "Too late to get into Lost?" thread:
In addition, Jack comforts Rose (the middle-aged black woman), who thinks that her husband is alive. Jack also sees a man dressed in a black suit with white shoes standing on the far side of the beach... when he runs up to look for him, the man has vanished.
The survivors are out of food. Locke proposes that they go hunting. He opens up a suitcase full of big-ass knives that he checked on the plane, and Kate and Michael go with him to go hunting. Sayid gives her an antenna that will help him find the source of the distress call with other equipment he's scrounged up. While on the hunt, Michael gets gored by a wild boar, and Kate breaks the antenna accidentally. Kate takes Michael back to the beach, but Locke stays behind to hunt. He tracks a boar, but before he can kill it, he comes face-to-face with the big thing (which remains unrevealed) that is clumping through the jungle. At the end of the episode, Locke, covered in dried blood, drags a dead boar back to the beach. It's not totally clear whether Locke or the big thing killed the boar, and he doesn't reveal that he saw the big thing. The survivors burn the midsection of the plane that's on the beach with them, and have a memorial service for the dead.
Throughout the episode, Locke's backstory is slowly revealed. He leads an unglamorous life... an office guy churning out TPS reports (no, really), calling a 900 number for companionship at night. He went to Australia to go on an "authentic Aboriginal walkabout," which he felt was his destiny, for some reason. Upon arriving in Australia, the tour guides don't allow him to join the tour, and it is revealed that Locke has been wheelchair-bound for the past four years. However, upon awakening after the crash, he found that he could walk again.

And some minor things:
The hobbit runs out of drugs.
The brother tells his sister she can't support herself (by catching a fish). She uses her femine charms to get the hobbit to do it for her. He tries to get Hurley to do, but Hurley has no luck.
Redneck guy was hiding peanuts, then decides to give them to the pregnant girl.
(BTW, how po'd do you think he is, that we refer to him as "the hobbit"?)
I was wondering if maybe Jack had a companion on the plane, but they weren't able to sit together. Has happened to me. Plus a Dr. in coach? Maybe he got his tickets last minute, and couldn't sit together. Maybe that's why he didn't want to be involved with the memorial, finally coming to the realization that the other person was dead. He's pretty much been non-stop since waking up.
When I first saw Locke wiggling his toes, I was thinking along the right lines. But for some reason, I was thinking maybe he had a prosthetic leg, and his real one grew back. After reading this thread, I started thinking outside the box. Maybe he was never paralyzed. Maybe he was in the middle of an insurance scam? (don't try and bend the spoon, that's impossible.).
I was all over the Helen thing. But, they got me hard with the Colonel thing.

Regarding Locke being or not being really paralyzed... check out this picture:

You can see he has some sort of device with a video screen on it next to his bed. It looks like an electrostimulation machine... something that Locke uses on his legs to keep them from atrophying completely out of disuse, possibly.

I'm not sure I'm understanding the theory about the island granting wishes. What about the guy who was chasing Kate? His wish was to either re-arrest her, or to kill her (or, at a minimum, stay alive), but that didn't come true.
