Pretty good episode. The only part that bothered me was that safehouse. Why the hell would the FBI set Chloe up *in* Smallville. Doesn't the witness relocation program usually do a bit more... um... relocating?
Oh, and Lois..

Shouldn't they show be more about Superman rather than all of these side characters?. I mean to me it seems like they are neglecting the true objective of this show.

I can't believe it's episode two and you all are already complaining so much...
I personally liked the episode a lot. Sure it had some weak points, but guess what - so does every other show out there. Even the best shows have weak points. If I wanted to sit and complain week in and week out, I wouldn't even watch the damn show.
If you have some constructive criticism then that's different. Instead - "I can't believe...so lame...", etc.
Anyway, I digress.
I really like the Clark/Lois dynamic. They play off each other really well and the woman can hold herself too! And yes the Clark Jr. bit was hilarious!
One of the funniest aspects is Lois making all of the injokes/comments on all of Clark's and the Kent's mannerisms. I kinda wish they had kept up the shower conversation on the kitchen a bit more before changing subjects.
Obviously upset Chloe is back for the numerous reasons that have been stated before. However, I have a feeling that she will leave shortly. She'll go into "real" hiding now that the trial is over. (Really funny how a trial of that magnitude would start and wrap up in 3 months...would really take 2 years for Lionnel to go to real prison. Also, there's no way they'd put him in with all of those people after he was stabbed like 4 days prior....
)
Also, the Clark/Lana relationship is interesting. It seems to have matured and is no longer whiney. I have a feeling Lana will either trust Clark enough to tell him what is happening to her and/or he will end up saving her from something and in the process reveal his identity to her, but things will never be romantic the way they once almost were. I think Tom and Kristen could work very well in this new interaction with eachother.
Meanwhile, I must agree "Kryp/Tuck" is really unnecssary. I do not understand why they have to attempt to name each week's episode. I guess it's more in the hands of the WB's marketing department rather than the show's producers (or whoever deals with this on the show's end). I used to love trailers, but I'm more and more at the point where I ignore them and just sit down to watch the episode. Here's hoping to a very misleading episode and a another great episode!

"Kryp/Tuck"
This is really a bad decision to market the title like this. Even though the episode will most likely be good.
If WB starts turning this show into a Charmed or Buffy, there will be one less viewer. I sincerely doubt they would. One of the reasons smallville is compelling is that the show makes us believe he really is Superman (err boy) and Smallville is a real town full of people we know. To turn that into a episodic phrase-turning smart ass trend of the week show would simply ruin it.
I am hoping this isn't the "NEW" direction the show will take.

Other than the T-1000, I thought this was a great episode. Michael Ironside as Lois' father is brilliant casting - I hope we see more of him this season.
As for the previous poster who questioned an underground railroad in Kansas - there was indeed an underground railroad movement in the state:

I know I made my fair share of comments, but can from here on out can we keep comments on next weeks episode in next weeks thread? I went ahead and made one. Yes I know early, but I don't want to see this thread get bogged down.

I thought this was one of the more enjoyable episodes of late. The shower scene is the type of thing that's been missing from the show IMO - even the music during that scene was different and more playful. Smallville doesn't have to be a comedy every week, but some lighter moments would help immensely. No show, especially one about a teenage-would-be-superhero, should be 100% serious for an entire hour.
Does Michael Ironsides ever play a character that couldn't be chomping on a cigar?
Did they mention how Lois was able beat the crap out of that SEAL-type guy? Are we to assume that she's a teenage supersoldier just because her dad is a general? For that matter, didn't those two SEAL guys find it strange that Clark was throwing them 20 feet in the air? That kind of logic doesn't bother me, but usually SV makes a big deal out of people seeing Clark displaying his powers.
As I said, I much prefer last night's tone to last season. A little humor, a little mythology, a couple of Superman moments, little cave / melodrama action.

Although, he might have remembered that since he was remembering things that happened when he was evil.

I also noticed something else - but it may just be me - did Michael Rossenbaum gain a lot of weight over the off season?!
Also, I think Tom could have delivered his line better about "Maybe it's Lex." Meanwhile, I find myself starting to feel sorry for Lionel.

I loved everything about last night show. Still my favorite show on TV.
The show is entertaining and fun to watch. I do not pick apart every little thing of the show, I just have a great time watching Superman grow up.
I am starting to think Lionel is going to be the true bad guy for Superman, not Lex. I have my reasons for thinking this, future Episodes may proves this to be true.

I don't undestand why someone was complaining about the tunnels in Kansas as part of the Underground Railroad... ever heard of the Missouri Compromise? Furthermore, just because they have lights and cement now doesn't mean they had them then. Talk about straw men...
I thought it was a great episode. The T-1000 FOTW is acceptable, since it wasn't really a plot device. If anything, it further develops the concept that Belle Reve prison is housing dozens of superpowered humans, setting up a realistic environment in which a Superman would appear. In fact, the upcoming Batman Returns film provides a really interesting milieu in which colorful crazies will emerge in Gotham City (Jokers, Penguins, Riddlers, etc..)
Lois is a keeper. The problem is if they develop her too much here, much of the Lois/Clark dynamic will be played out long before Kent ever wears the tights and the big red S. But you have to accept Smallville as its own beast, with its own take on the Superman legend.
Actually, if you take a really probing look at the show, there's really only one good reason why

I don't understand why Clark would refer to Lex as part of the cave wall prophecy...the cave wall shows a dragon coming out of a man, which they say is Clark's main nemesis. But wouldn't a smaller leap of logic be that Kal El is Clark's enemy, since he literally came out of himself? Esp when Lex has proven his good intentions with the Chloe scenario?
Small potatoes, tho. Better ep than last week, and Lois is less annoying now.

Sam Lane is a Five Star General, not a Three Star General,
Not a big deal at all though, I know that Smallville continuity is way different from DC continuity.
Do we know that

In season two ("Skinwalker"), the prophecy was explained. Clark learns that the symbol represented two people who were like brothers, but that in time, one would turn on the other.
I don't think Clark would consider Kal-El his "brother."
