damn, i luuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrve bald men! chad is quite some tasty meat!
maybe because i dont watch much t.v i am not tired of the men vs women thing. i, for one, like it because tests tend to have more brain and less braun. i imagine things will change and there will be a crossover again. other eye candy i have my eyes on (but none so delicious as the entity known as chad  ) is brady for some reason, i think the model is so not hot. maybe i am weird or something--any other chicks agree with me? |
I'm not tired of it either. Mainly because they only did it once before! It also just fit in well with the setting like they said, so I'm glad they just went with it. I don't think you can just lump this in with The Apprentice. I was curious to see them try it again just to see if it would play out the same as the last time. So far not at all, because this group of women aren't completely useless like the last time.

Originally posted by Jeremy517 I was wondering why the guys just gave up after getting an "amber" (ember). I would have tried again until I was able to get a fire from it. All the work is getting to the ember part. They made it 95% of the way and then messed up the finish.. so they just gave up? It would make more sense if hours and hours went by and they could not create an ember. BUT THEY DID IT. I also don't get the missing sense of urgency for getting shelter, fire, and drinkable water. Again, have they not seen Survivor? Or maybe... they have and expect the show to reward teams with anything they need to not have to endure hardship? Regardless, I don't see myself lounging around, bathing, or almost anything else that does not involve developing clean water, food, shelter, and fire. That is the stuff you do first. Argh.... |
Originally posted by mverleg1 Nicely referenced. I tip my hat to you. :) One of the funniest things that ever happened at my old office was based on that episode. I was overseeing a bunch of web designers when all of a sudden one of the guys had his machine go blue screen on him, totally lost a big Photoshop file he'd been working on for like an hour. He spent about 5 seconds keeping himself from smashing the monitor into bits, then leaned back in his chair, exhaled, and muttered, "Shaka, when the walls fell." Cracked me up for ten minutes. |
Originally posted by Kittydreamer I love my TiVo. The best part about it is it helps the family not watch as much TV as they normally would. Also, no more missing out on Survivor specials because you didn't hear about them. Simply program your faithrul TiVo to pick up anything Survivor related and you're set! |
Originally posted by icondude How to these people get by for 3 days without water? How come nobody can start a fire? Didn't anyone practice or watch the show ahead of time? Wasn't it unusual for Survivor to not allow the men's team to take home fire after tribal council? I know it's been allowed in the past, but maybe not in recent seasons?? |
Can't the collect and drink the rain water? Or is that some kind of health risk too? You may not get much, but it should be enough to survive, and it seemed to rain quite a bit.
I think Tivo actually increased the television that my family watches. Of course, the good thing about it is that we always watch things we're interested in, rather than whatever happens to be on the tube at the time. |
Originally posted by mariakitty Another great reason to get TiVo! We are actually planning to get it in the spring. We are having a house built and decided that would be the time to get DirectTiVo since we have to install tv anyway. Our problem is that the best broadband in our area is cable and they charge more if you are not a cable subscriber. It's $10 a month more! Oh well, it will be worth it. :) |

This is from the Entertainment Weekly site:
Six times he fell off the beam. Six! Actually, it was even worse. When Probst stopped by the EW offices on Thursday, he told us that Chris spent a good 20 minutes trying to get across that damn beam. http://www.ew.com/ew/article/comment...7|0_0_,00.html This season looks like the biggest bunch of losers so far. Are they running out of people who want to be on the show? I mean come on 'Bob Barker' ?-ohbfrank- I wanted him voted off so I wouldn't have to look at that damn t-shirt. |
So far, no one on the men's tribe looks to me like they can play the game on the level of a Rich, Boston Rob, or Rob C.

Is Jeff going to say 'Vanuatu: Islands of fire' everytime?
And what about that opening shoot with him? -eek- |

Originally posted by funkyryno It looked cool, but I'm pretty sure it was blue-screened. |
I don't think it was blue screened...If you notice he's a actually a LOT further away from it then first appearances would lead you to believe.

Originally posted by lucasorion I got so frustrated watching them failing with that technique, and having all these cords hanging from hats and other ropemaking material which would be perfect for a bow drill. I took a survival course when I was around ten and we learned how to make a fire the first day. If I was competing for a million dollars I would at least buy a Tom Brown book and perfect some of this stuff. Yea but then you would be a target because you would be smarter then everyone else. :p |

all I gots to add to this conversation is that there has been some good amount of boobage to see. Hopefully Eliza's big mouth doesn't kick her off before we get to see more of those big cans of hers

I also hated the Bob Barker T shirt.

Originally posted by DVD007 I don't think it was blue screened...If you notice he's a actually a LOT further away from it then first appearances would lead you to believe. Bruce I just watched the opening again and they shot him from too many angles to make me think it was bluescreened. At the end when they pull away they shoot from above him and you can see his feet. I wouldn't say he was ALOT farther away than he appeared to be. |
I believe he was there. But it really looked blue screened to me as well. I had to rewind and check twice. Not sure why it looked so strange, but I do believe he was there.
|
I had the exact same feeling that it was blue screened in the head on med. shot. And then when they show him from above, I knew he was there - that would have been impossible to blue screen.
I think it looked fake, because the camera was on a long lens, and the volcanic stuff behind him had a nice haze throwing everything out of focus, but the long lens flattened everything. It was a weird visual. |
I (having now seen the beginning way too many times) think the first shot in front of the volcano looks fake, with some edge artifacts. The ending shot with the camera pulling away looks real.
