Farscape; Why did the writers take LSD in season 4?
I'm just watching through Farscape for the first time. Season 3 started to get really good up until the last 2 episodes, where things started to get a bit loose. The last two days, I've watched the first 3 episodes of season 4, and they're nearly indecipherable! They seem to now be throwing in characters with little to no introduction, and very loosly telling a story.
Does this continue in season 4? Are new "main cast" characters going to continue showing up for a few episodes then leaving (I enjoyed Stark's departure, though)? Will the annoying old woman with a third eye leave soon?

I'm reading this as you bought the seasons on a blind buy? I've been thinking about doing the same thing myself....is it worth it? I have a friend who says this is one of the best sci-fi shows ever, and my tastes normally run the same as his.
For whatever reason, though, I've just never picked it up. Would you recommend it?

I'd never seen an episode of Farscape until the DDD 20% off sale, so I bought the sets. I thought the first season was pretty lacking, and the 2nd began to get better. There wasn't much of an arc here, other than Crais chasing Crichton. Season 3 began to get more interesting, with a bit more continuity throughout, but season 4, through the first 5 episodes, has been pretty bleh and just incoherant in many respects (which is why I asked this question). It doesn't help that I'm not really liking the "4 or 5 episode" stars.
It's certainly not something I'd buy for full price, but for what I paid, I've satisfied. Try the first season with the next big sale and see if it strikes your fancy (or wait for the Sci-Fi channel to replay all the episodes in order leading to the mini series this October).

I thought season 4 started out weak but got a lot better. Unfortunately, that old lady with three eyes gets way too much screen time (I just couldn't stand her).
Farscape is one of my very favorite shows. FWIW, here are my favorites shows in no particular order:
Babylon 5
Star Trek Deep Space Nine
Farscape
Angel
The Black Adder

There are some incredible episodes in season four from what I can remember. My memory isn't too great though since they were downloaded, and I'm waiting for them to release it all in a boxset to rewatch it. However I remember really enjoying the episode Kansas. I think it's the fourteenth or so of the season. Now that I think back, I really enjoyed season 4 so stick with it. You might as well since you already bought it.
