Nip/Tuck - 08/17/04

"Rose and Raven Rosenberg"

Spoiler:
Sean and Christian assist in the separation of conjoined twins.

Cast: Dylan Walsh, Julian McMahon, John Hensley, Joely Richardson.

Original Airdate: August 17, 2004.

Spanky BananaPants 08-17-04 09:53 AM

After last week's Emmy-worthy episode, I'm really looking forward to this one. Nip/Tuck is one of the best TV shows on, IMO. FX is giving HBO a good run for it's money, as far as high-quality original programming goes.

Geofferson 08-17-04 10:03 AM

Preview looks good.

Goldberg74 08-17-04 09:45 PM

Spoiler:
I liked the analogy of Christian's half dying, but Sean's half willing to live on her own... symbolic of Christian being screwed by the separation and Sean's possibility of surviving it.

What happens 43 minutes in should be considered soft-core porn.

... or a rip-off of what we thought we saw in Denis Leary's sex scene last week on Rescue Me.

I hope they both get a disease! ;)

Edit to add:
Spoiler:
Next week it looks J. Jonah Jameson's going to get himself a nice set of boobs!

Wow. Simply wow. One of the best episodes of this phenomenal show. Seriously I'm reeling. This show is back in a BIG way.

Watch it as soon as you can. This might be the best episode of them all.

Sonicflood 08-17-04 11:04 PM

I love this show more each week!

Spoiler:
I am happy that Sean said what he did to Christian during the rejoining of the twins. I just wonder how they will interact with Matt & Julia now.

I missed the trailer for next week, so I'm rewatching the episode right now.

Alright already Groucho... I went back and added the tags, but its not like FX isn't go to show that same promo over and over again for the next week.

But I went the extra mile and re-read the 'stuck' thread about using spoilers and I guess you're right about promos. So I'll concede. I am now one of the learned few. It won't happen again.

I even went back to last weeks and added spoiler tags there... ;)

Kal-El 08-18-04 02:45 AM

Just watched it. Whoa. Didn't know this show was this racy. My goodness I can't believe they actually showed what they did...that was...wow...

Patman 08-18-04 06:57 AM

Yah, you had to love the way the writers parallelled Sean and Christian's impending separation with their "last" case together, and how truly symbiotic they had become in the past 17+ years.

Now, that "menege a whoa" definitely pushed the limits of cable TV... :)

Tommy Ceez 08-18-04 08:37 AM

The conversation on the airplane was shot in a way that made you feel that you were actually there listening in...wonderful.

Geofferson 08-18-04 08:43 AM

Damn fine episode. The symbolism between Sean and Christian's possible breakup and the surgery performed was quite clever. I also liked the cafeteria scene, with the two of them having mental flashbacks to their youth.

My reaction as well. What a powerful episode.

Probably the most sexually explicit scene I've seen on American television outside of the pay cable networks.

Also, the makeup/special effects on the conjoined twins was simply amazing.

The metaphors in this episode were so heavy-handed, they even made my old "Creative Writing 101" teacher cringe.

My feelings exactly. I enjoyed the episode, but I just didn't like getting beat over the head with all of the symbolism. This episode provides yet another reason why Dylan Walsh and Julian McMahon are the two best leads in tv today. Next weeks ep looks to be out there, but that's where Nip/Tuck excels. Looking forward to seeing JJJ himself with man-boobs.

What's a promo? :)
Those of us with ReplayTV or Tivo don't see commercials or promos very often.

Great episode. This is one of the few shows that delivers on every single episode.

Goldberg74 08-18-04 09:14 AM

PalmerJoss, you'd better duck if Groucho comes back in here... ;)

Groucho 08-18-04 09:15 AM

Groucho won't be coming back. After reading PalmerJoss's post, his head exploded. And I just cleaned the floors yesterday!

I could have done without the two students who were supposed to be younger versions of Sean and Julian... way too trite.

I thought it was pretty creepy the way the hooker kept turning into Julia - what was that supposed to mean?

kurupt 08-18-04 10:45 AM

The hooker was a "stand-in" for Julia.

Spoiler:
That's because Sean wanted her to be that way. It was his fantasy, and that's what he wanted.

Im under the impression that they were actual conjoined twins, just dummy's after the seperation...which looked fake

Jonny2k1 08-18-04 01:29 PM

Yeah, the symbolism for this episode definitely made it's point by beating us with it. There were just a few too many for my liking, but it was still a great episode. Now there are going to be some really screwed up relationships among all the main characters. I wonder if they told the daughter what was going on, or is she just an innocent bystander left by the wayside.

Well that would explain it then. :)
