Mirna is just a bitch in every way. They are all into screwing other teams over, yet get pissed when someone does it to them. Maybe if she wasn't a bitch from the beginning, other teams would want to help her. I wouldn't do anything to help her. In fact, I would actively plot against her if I was there.

Plus, she is fugly.

My favorite team is Charla & Mirna. It is pretty clear that most all the other teams have banded against them, yet they keep showing up for every leg of the race. Besides, they are not there to make friends, they want to win just like everyone else. What's wrong with using your size to get ahead, or any other tactic, that's what you are expected to do.

The cab incident, go back and watch that again. As soon as they found out that C&C hadn't paid and still had there bags in the trunk, they got out. Colin was the one who was overreacting. And her spitting....fancy editing I say. If not I say "you go girl!", I would have spit on them. What's up with the pushing? Big guy, twice her size and shoving her to the side.

They are trying to make friends. That's why they get pissed when people do not actively help them or talk to them only out of courtesy. If they were not trying to make friends, why would they give a shit how other people treated them.

And they didn't just get out of the cab. They bitched and moaned and basically had to be pulled out.

I would have no problem with the way Mirna and Charla are playing the game ... if they didn't complain every time someone called them on it. Case in point ... when Mirna called everyone else a "junior high bully." Granted, Colin giving her a shoulder fits that mold, but Mirna is just as big of a bully as everyone else.

I suppose that the editing may cast M&C in a worse light than they deserve, but they seem to be the most underhaned yet self-righteous team in the race. It is this combination that makes me root against them.

Using advantages is one thing. And using size to get people to help out, when it isn't specifically banned in the leg rules is fine.

But to use Charla's size as an advantage and make it out to be a medical emergency to get on a flight that they might not otherwise get on is something that shouldn't be done and something I wish they'd get penalties for.

Have the brothers tried to pull that with one of them having a bad knee? I'm not sure what transpired with the father and daughter with his knee. We don't know if the flight was held for them, or if they made it on time. But from that point on, they didn't call for a medical emergency issue to get on a flight.

And I'm not just saying that because Its them and I really don't care for their team.

If any of the teams had pulled a medical emergency request, I'd be all over wanting them to get a penalty as well and calling it something that shouldn't be allowed.

Just considering what they did is pretty bad, but they then have the hypocrisy to turn to the cameras and give us some self-righteous babble about being as capable as everyone else. Give me special treatment when it's advantageous to me, but don't treat me differently when I don't want it!!! It's all about hypocrisy with Mirna. She'll say the most terrible things about the way someone acted on the course and then turn around and do the same damn thing or worse.

okay, we can just replace those with the incident of them butting into the conversation Colin was trying to have to speak english to the local in (I think) the third episode. If someone had done that to them, she would have been crying "criminal" and "assault"

there is just a number of incedibly annoying things about this team, I cringe when they aren't in last place.

I remember that many have complained, in the earlier episodes, that Charla/Mirna got breaks from the ferry/priority on the flight, some even suspected that the producers were pulling the strings. But no one seems to be even bothered to ask why the chartered flight to Luxor was delayed, so Linda/Karen caught their biggest break in the race so far. I guess when you don't hate a particular team, you really don't care what really happened.

People also called the cousins hypocritical mainly because Mirna said she was an independent women but not acting like one and Charla said she could do anything just like a normal person. Why did people care so much about what they said, but not others? I actually agree with the following quote from the USA Today article:

Using Charla's size for sympathy is no different from when the twins using their charm to get help in Russia. After all, this is a race to win a million dollars, not a contest of popularity or morality.

Although I'd like to see Charla's team to go as far as possible because they are entertaining, I'm afraid that they could be the next team to be eliminated. Their strength is working the airports, but really bad at driving/navigation. Mirna's physical and mental strength is probably the weakest among all remaining racers, and Charla's size makes it difficult for her to perform certain physical tasks.

It's a chartered flight reserved specifically for the race, not an regular commercial flight. You smartass comment actually reflects the double standard of some posters here. How ironic.

Even a chartered flight still needs a free runway from which to take off.

Actually, IIRC, the flight was delayed for 2 hours, so it's not as if someone delayed the flight 10 minutes just for the Moms to make it.

I wish they had to drive themselves around more, and to obxcure hard-to-find places. There is more room for error and therefore excitement when they are driving themselves and using vague maps.

I noticed this too. It didn't take off until 1:30ish as opposed to 11:30.

So because it's a "special chartered flight" they don't have to pass the same specifications as other planes in order to take off? All planes have to have a mechanical check before takeoff, not to mention a million other things that have to be straight before you can taxi out of the gate. The thing is I don't hate Mirna and Charla....I just don't buy his conspiracy theory about holding the planes for the bowling moms when it was 2 hours late, not 5 minutes late. They just got lucky.

I think the fact that I do overlook some the annoying things the other teams do and even attribute some of the annoying things they do to team 1.5 just boils down to the fact that there are just a number of things about 1.5 that makes me nauseous and I don't want to see them be successful at anything

Colin and Christie are still tearing it up. I like them, and to those who think Colin is arrogant, he was very sincere and I think had tears in his eyes after they finished the St. Petersburg leg of the race.
Charla and Mirna must go. Mirna is just a worthless human being who tries to blame other people for her failures.

I'm not sure how much I "like" them as people, but I have to give Colin and Christie tons of respect. They lost a monster lead because of the inherent lameness of the game, had to start fresh with everyone else and still found a way to win the leg. That's pretty impressive.

I feel the same way. They're playing a damn good race right now. They get screwed over with a 7 hour lead and still finish first for that leg.

From the clips we see at the recoup times at the Pit Stops, all the teams socialize and seem to get along, except Mirna and Charla, who are always separated from the others. C&M supporters would say that they're being excluded intentionally. I believe it's an extension of the regards they have for the other teams. In their expectation that they'll be negatively pre-judged, they're already believing no one will like or help them, they treat the other teams as such, even during non-competition times and it snowballs from there. It's called self fulfilling prophecy.

Considering that many other flights at time were listed as delayed, it wasn't an intentional delay for that one chartered flight so the Bowling Moms could catch it. Every team has had good lucky breaks and bad breaks that set them back.

My assessment of the remaining teams:
Colin & Christie - Really strong racers, using time, travel agents and airports to their obvious advantage. But mostly too focused on the race to appreciate what they're experiencing.
Chip & Kim - They started the race as bumbling bottom feeders, but pushed forward to be in the top. Pushed against the Twins, sure, but made up to them, probably saving them from having to beg on the streets of Cairo. Definitely the most improved team and they're having the time of their lives from just being there.
Brandon & Nicole - Overt Christians sometimes bother me, because it usually comes across as a "God's on my side, not on yours" attitude, but these two are using their faith as their own strength without putting it in the face of others. They take racing advantages when they can get them. And they and the editors have provided us with a couple of great Heavenly Moments and I'm hoping to see more.
Kami & Karli - Only luck has kept these two in the race. They called themselves clueless and I wholeheartedly agree.
Charla & Mirna - I believe I've expressed myself enough about them in this thread.
Linda & Karen - The opposite of Chip & Kim. L&K started this race having the time of their lives, just enjoying their experiences, but now that they're bottom feeders, they're getting panicky. Bad luck with cabs, good luck with airports. Admirable recovery from being penalized.
