DVD Talk Limited Edition
She's okay, but I think she's far from smokin'. Somebody needs to tell her to fix her hair.
And Randy, the one with the nice body, it's a shame that he talks like a girl.
Interesting mix of people though, that's for sure.

DVD Talk Legend
If you like this more contrived version of the Rumspringa....you definately need to see the documentary The Devil's Playground....it's fantastic. And it's a bargain at DDD....($10 cheaper than Amazon)

I'm confused as to the extent the Amish kids have to the outside world when they're living they're normal lives. What I found amazing was the amount of modern slang that the Amish kids had picked up before the moving to California.
For some insane reason, I am seriously worried about these kids! If they made the decision to leave the church, how would any of them survive in the city? Most of these kids are in their twenties and they only have an eighth grade education -- meaning they've got a lot of catching up to do if they want to survive in the real world.
I'm also suffering from accent overload. The Amish ones aren't too bad except for the quantity, but Nick's Bahstan accent and Reese's "gay lisp" are too over-the-top.
Overall thoughts on the cast:
Miriam is pretty attractive and Ruth has got a decent personality. Forget about driving a truck through Randy's teeth -- you could easily do a three-lane highway. Mose seems well-grounded, but participating in the chest-shaving was a little demeaning. Jonas seems a little prideful.
Meagan definitely is 22 going on 35 with the amount of sun and alcohol she's getting. Nick seems cocky and uneducated, but I'll reserve full judgment since it's clear they did some slick editing during his opening interview. I can't tell, is Reese gay?
It's okay to be a little flamboyant, but I wish Kevan kicked his ass after the slapping incident. As for the city kids I I liked - Kevan and Whitney since they act pretty level-headed and aren't overtly mean. I wonder what his faith is since his father is a Muslim. Ariel is a complete flake, but I would almost be willing to convert to see her walking around in the conservative get-up and fulfill my Amish paradise fantasies while talking about cows from outer space!
