I like him because he doesn't let guests get away with non answers or nonsensical ones. I remember when I used to watch the sunday talk shows and eventually the host would always move on when the guest would not give a straight answer.

Originally posted by rfduncan I have only listened to him live on the radio, but the television show is notoriously edited and tweaked with so much that O'Reilly himself will never come across as "wrong" or "the bad guy". I'm surprised Moore has consented to be on it knowing full well that he's going to be made an ass of regardless of how well he presents himself or how strong or valid his arguments are. It's live. :hscratch: |

I think they are both idiots but Moore is by far the bigger one. (No pun intended)
|
The show is definately not live. If O'Reilly ambushed Moore into doing his show by asking him on camera, Moore should have said I'll be on your show, if you'll be in my next film.
Nothing is gained from these interviews that helps anyone get a better idea of what the guest thinks, even if it's a rabid conservative idealogue who O'Reilly doesn't agree with. Dick Morris, who is a truly revolting guy, was on last night, I think, talking to Billl about questions Bill should ask John Kerry if he got to speak with him. Morris told Bill he should ask him what kind of man falls in love with a billionaire and that tells you a lot about Kerry. The democratic guest was outraged and even Bill knew that was below the belt, but Bill said, while smiling, "Oh, Morris, that's not a relevant question, Come on." Of course, Dick will be back on soon. Recently, Bill had a vote on his website about the most obnoxious person on both sides and O'Reilly came in like 3rd with 8% (Michael Moore was number 1) on his own poll. "Stuart Smalley" was well down the list with 3% and the next day on his show, O'Reilly didn't show the results, but told his viewers there was going to be a run-off between Moore and Franken. What a tool. |

I find it amusing that you're upset that O'Reilly "ambushed" Moore when that's the exact tactic Michael Moore uses for all his "documentaries". Oh the irony. |

Originally posted by dolphinboy I'm upset about it? That's news to me. But you sure made the conservative spin machine proud by posting how I feel about something, when it's not true. |

Actually I found the comment, "conservative spin machine" to be quite humorous.
Is this argument really about my diction? I'll just assume you're still "upset" about the whole Ricky Williams thing. |
Ben Affleck just had a really good interview. He knows a pretty good bit about politics and he was very well-spoken. And O'Reilly even gave him a chance to speak!
|
So I'm tuned into Fox News atm, waiting for Moore Vs. O'Reilly.
O'Reilly, "Did you know Black home ownership is at an all time high? So who are Blacks so Anti-Bush." WTF? WTF does Bush have anything to do w/ African Americans owning homes? |

O'Reilly vs. Moore ended up being relatively boring after O'Reilly hypes it up for the whole show as a heavyweight battle about huge issues.
And yet O'Reilly thumps Moore only AFTER the interview, making a huge issue about whether Bush "lied" or not about WMDs and how Moore will never admit he didn't lie, so he's a nut. As if that's the most important issue in the world; trying to decide what really constitutes a lie. |

O'Reilly claimed that Moore only agreed to do the interview if it would be shown unedited.
Oh, the irony! |
I also agree that Ben Affleck presented himself well.
As for O'Reilly vs. Moore: Not as good as it could have been. They should have had a longer interview. Still fun to watch. Moore's "would you sacrifice your child" question was really stupid. No parent was asked to sacrifice their children. The soldiers all made a choice to be in the military, not their parents. |
He loves that question, and it's stupid every time he asks it. There are so many legitimate grievances to make without leaning on such a sensationalist crutch.

kind of lame...wish it was longer. moore has to understand that bush does not go jump in his army fatigues, fly over seas, do some special-ops to find evidence and then come home and report on it.
the cia and other agency are in charge of surveilance...they blew their job...making bush look like a liar. bush trusted his agencies which in turn fed him bad info...not only his agencies but also 2 other countries. o'riely almost answered moores trap question...sacrafice the children? they signed into the military...when soldiers died under clinton's watch where was moore? oh well, its good to see they finally agreed to disagree at the end (of course they both made their parting points). |
